Front Door Speaker

Post by pissedoffgokart »

Does anyone know what mounting depth the front door speakers can be? I have half assed guestimated about 2.25" using that plastic ring. Anyone fit anything around there in theirs?

My Cerwin-Vegas that I put in the front (using the plastic ring from the old speaker) are "low profile" and I think their depth are 2 1/8th inch. Anything deeper hits the window when down. The rears have over 3" depth w/o the ring. See: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785I'll try to find the specs on the Cerwin-Vegas and double check their depth. What kind of speakers are you thinking of putting in?(edit) I see the specs on my Cerwin-Vegas are 2-5/16 In (59mm) mounting depth.

I was hoping you would say that! I haven't really started looking as I wanted to know what kinda depth I had to work with. Right now I am just running the stocks off of a Planet Audio tube amp (75x4) and am thouroughly disappointed with their mid-base, not to mention the lack of built in X-over between the mid and tweet. I am more into SQ than anything, granted playing it loud is always good (hence the 2 Treo 12's). I would have liked to go with OZ audio seperates (the best sounding components I have exer heard/used) but they are just plain too big. Must start research....

Any luck finding door speakers?I have to agree that the stock speakers are terrible in the midbass, they lacks definition completely. They are only good if you are listening to... I take that back, they are not good. And the integration with the tweeter...what integration.Mark

Nope, I am a complete slacker! I have been pouring money int my Mini lately try, in vain of course, to get it running proper like again. Although I keep a watchful eye out for a sale on Focal's. I have read theat people have used 'em with no problem, well, and Focal's kick much booty too.
