Factory Alarm Settings

Post by ndolney »

Hi All,I have a 2004 Vibe and am very annoyed with the factory alarm. It arms automatically after 30 seconds (even if the doors are unlocked). Can the settings be changed? That is, can you change the settings so that it only arms when you lock the car? Any help is appreciated. Nicole

Have you tried looking in your owner manual??? That might help you if not go to the dealership and ask them.

Hey welcome to genvibe! With most alarms you can switch between passive (automaticaly)and active (manual) arming. But being from a manufacture Im not sure, just for the sake of manufactures being all about convience. I would check with a dealership if there is nothing in the manual. If oyu dont have the owners manual let me know and I could take a look for you I to have an 04.Aron

Thanks for the welcome. I called the manufacturer and they aren't aware of any method to change the settings. Unfortunately, the alarm will always arm automatically after 30 seconds (even if you don't arm it youself). Unless, somebody knows somebody has any additional information this is what I am stuck with. Thanks for the help.

According to the OM it only arms when all doors are locked. The indicator light is to the left of the steering wheel. The light comes on but it is not activated until it starts flashing. The radio alarm is separate so don't go by that flashing light. Pg 2-15 tells how to dis-arm it.

Ya that sux, I have an 05 with an aftermarket Audiovox installed its an APS-410a and it passive arms after 30 seconds, good thing I had a spare fob and keys as I've already locked myself out. It seems to act the same as a factory setup, has valet function and starter disable, remote keyless entry, passive arming,no lock in passive mode and valet switch overide, just got it used so have to contact the installer.I just found this on the matrix site, go all the way down to step 4, I'm going to try it tomorrow, several days later.......phoned the installer...........need to bring the vehicle in and $30 later he can reprogram it with his "computer".........think I will try something else as its a $100 ferry ride to the installer......http://www.illformedpragma.com...0.pdf Does ANYONE know how to passively disarm this Audiovox?? Help help.....
