Ok...at the risk of imparting more ignorance upon myself.... ....what exactly is carbon fiber and what is it's purpose? I have seen the carbon fiber dash kits on E-Bay and have seen the post on the carbon fiber hoods. Is it just for looks....does it serve a purpose....just curious.Jim

As far as dash kits, basically just the looks. The hood takes that a little further. It looks cool (to some, I don't really care for it myself) and is much lighter than a metal hood.
It is quite strong, the tensile strength is a fair bit higher than steel. Yes, like any resin-fiber composite, it can shatter or splinter but it takes quite a hit to accomplish that.
I have the carbon fiber dash kit on mine from exoticwooddash.com. I'm pretty happy with it and I like the look for interior trim. I wouldn't want it for whole body parts, personally. I also have carbon fiber look badge overlays from GrafxWerks on the outside of the car. They cover the "Vibe" lettering on the side and hatch doors. I got reflective red overlays to cover the "GT" lettering right next to them for a unique look. I really like the badge overlays. I left all my arrowheads alone because I like the way the red breaks up the Neptune exterior a bit.

i am hoping it maybe will tighten up a bit. its ok, never had a wheel cover before. i am use to it now, had it for 4 days. it was like $5.99, at the PX on base here. i was mistaken, i didnt buy it at walmart, i had a brain fart. the PX is like a walmart for military personel.

Hey Stang.....do you have any pics of the inside..I am debating again in getting this kit.......I would like to see it before.......I seen the one on ebay, somehow I think that is cheap material..........so I would like to see another before I go out and spend cash!
Pete--I took a few pics of it last week with my digital camera. When I figure out how to post them here, I gladly will.

since this thread is about carbon fiber, i wanna ask a question. i totally understand the point of a carbon fiber hood, it lowers the weight. but what the heck is the point of a carbon fiber gas tank door??? i saw a kia the other day, with a huge spoiler, racing stickers, stock wheel covers and the all mighty carbon fiber gas tank door. some people confuse me and make me laugh...
