Background information:I was sent to germany as a medevac escort for a soldier a couple days ago and have been stuck here since then. I will be headed back to Africa soon.Tomorrow:I will be renting a BMW Z4 and driving (on the AutoBahn) to Heidelberg germany to see a castle that is supposed to be pretty durned sweet. I'm just excited cuz i'm driving on the autobahn. and i'm gonna be going super fast. ha ha LEGALLLY!!!!!

i forgot to mention my buddy is going to be riding along with me so there will definitely be some good pics to be taken of the drive and of the castle.... the only thing that i'm really worried about is getting lost... i'm not gonna lie i'm a little scared of that but other than that i'm good.

don't worry about getting lost....heidelberg is not that large of a city and getting from the autobahn to the castle is pretty straight forward.we had a GPS and didn't really need it!Just look for the tall hill to the east of the Autobahn and head in that direction..the castle is next to/on that hill. Be prepared for crowds of people. it's a pretty popular place.also, the roads in and around the castle are VERY narrow...i was in a Volvo V70 and was scrubbing the sides of my tires on a few curbs going through there!enjoy your time...it is fun doing some nice speeds out there. we hit 240-ish km/h before the volvo stopped accelerating!oh..and if a message comes on your dash with the red exclamaition mark and says something like "Achtung" and "Kuhlmital"...you're low on coolant and DON"T keep driving (like we did! )i have a cool pic of the the speedometer at top speed as well as a short video clip of passing everbody as we flew in the left lane.the funny thing is if you don't speed up you get run over!i am envious...wish i could go back there soon!

My Father in Law has a Z4, they are fun.. and fast, he has one that has the Gov put on cause it was sent to America.... but it's still fast, we had it around 130 or so and still had plenty of room.... let me know what you think of it.

just be careful over there. Hon said when he was young, his family took the kids all over Europe and they saw fireball wrecks with casualties on the AutoBahn.

well i am now about to head out. so wish me luck and i am going to have my buddy take some pics and maybe a short video clip when we're on the autobahn. Oh and now i understand why everyone says american beers are crap beer... cuz they don't stand a chance against german beers... the hefeweizens here taste nothing like the hefeweizens in the states... i don't want to leave... but have no fear i didn't drink last night and i don't plan on drinking today until i get back from heidelberg and have safely parked the car.

Okays so I'm back and i made it safe and sound... i was able to max the car out at somwhere between 250 and 260 kmh on the way to Heidelberg. i think that's around 155 mph (correct me if i'm wrong) . but coming back was only able to get it to about 220-225 kmh. give me a day or two and i'll have some pictures up on photobucket to share...I have decided that i reallly love the german countryside. It's absolutely beautiful and the drivers here are very courteous... not at all like the states. The Heidelberg castle was amazing... it was frickin HUGE!! my only wish is that i could have read german that way i could read all the german signs and bulletins within the castle. I did find what i think is quite possibly the largest keg i have ever seen.. there was a sign that said i belieive it was 221,000 liters. That's awesome.... I'll take one in the basement of my barracks And please fill it with german beer. Anyways.... I will post some pics later. give me a litte time and a fast internet connection
