Front Brakes Replacements - Ceramic or Semi-metallic

Post by GadgetGuyVibe »

I own a 2005 Vibe w AWD, just under 25k miles, and the front brakes need replacement. Does anyone have a preference to either ceramic pads or semi-metallic pads. I used to drive alot of hills b4, but now, most of my driving is highway miles

Ceramic is the better pad, cost more, no brake dust, and stops faster. THink I paid 38 bux for the set I just put on the GT.

depending on the compound (see the letter on the back...) you might get some unavoidable sqealling.I went for the ceramic pads when i got my new rotors and they squealed no matter what. I brought the car back to the shop and they put in ...FF?? instead of the GG? (my memory is bad!) and the squealing stopped.after awhile, even the ceramics will leave some dust on your rims....so they're not COMPLETELY dustless.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
