Me: 1 Month Old Vibe Owner. Happy thus far.Problem: I continue to hear a crackling/popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle at higher speeds. Not loud, just strange. Almost sounds like somebody crinkling up aluminum foil? Any ideas?
Welcome!!! Glad to hear you're enjoying your Vibe! One possible solution to the noise is to lift the load floor and see if the tie-down pieces are rattling around in the tray underneath. I know when I bought my car they hadn't installed the tie-downs in the tracks but had left them in the tray beneath the floor. They were just loose in there and bouncing around all over.
Maybe you would want to double check the torque of the rear lug nuts? Its hard to diagnose squeeks, rattles, and other strange noises without actually hearing them. Maybe you should try out your warranty coverage and have a dealer check things out just to make sure it's nothing serious.

Hmm sounds like it can be handy at a drive in movie. I wonder how much current a popcorn popper would draw. It would be fun to pop your own popcorn in your own car.
