Hi guys,2003 Pontiac Vibe. just over 100 000 km 5sp. Transmission failure due to a bad bearing.This isn't good. Should I expect the same from the 06 Corrolla tranny I found for a replacement?David

Sorry to hear! I would think that your luck would be better with a newer tranny. But, I guess you can't really count on anything these days. All you can do is cross your fingers and hope it holds up better than the last.Welcome to GenVibe, btw. I see you joined 4+ years ago and this is your first post.

From what I have read the 03's seem to be the only problem 5 speeds. My 03 makes the dreaded noise but at 54,000 I will drive it till it doesn't move!

It's just sad to see the first failed part on this car is the transmission. I'm still on my original brake pads!I did purchase an 06 corolla transmission with 6000 lm on it. Hopefully I wont have problems for a while.Thanks for the welcome. And best wishes to those with 03' 5spds.
