Dash Rattle

Post by RIT »

I, like most others, am still plagued with the ubiquitous dash rattle/buzz behind the stereo. I have stuffed foam in various places, but it still is there. It happens more frequently when the temp is cold, and occurs in the 4000 rpm range.Has anyone isolated what it actually is, and how have they fixed it? No, it is not coming from the cruise control module - it is more in the area behind the stereo, and near the center defroster ducts. It's driving me nuts ! PLEASE HELP !

I vaguely remember someone having to foam the ducts to eliminate a rattle...Easiest way to isolate it is to remove the upper dash and find out for sure what causes it...

My concern is having the air bag blow up in my face. That would "rattle" me a lot worse then the dash buzz. Although, I may evenually have to do that - unless someone can pinpoint it for me.

I'm still getting this rattle too. It sounds like it's behind the stereo or from the center of the dash behind the vent just to the right of the stereo. I had the stereo out last year and drove around to see if I could find it but it seemed to the right of the stereo opening. Any fixes yet?

the only slight rattle i get is when the car is at idle there is a fast repetitive one, not such a big deal.I had a huge one this past winter but it was like 10 degrees for over a month and when the weather got warm, went away.

My rattles...

The rattle you guys are getting is the one I have been lazy to fix. It's the A/C assembly, at least on mine. When it begins to rattle, I push on the un-used dummy button below the A/C controls, and it stops completely. Thus, in my case, I just need to tighten that assembly. Most likely going to do it this Saturday (nice weather, supposedly). My other rattle is coming from the corner of the dash by the day-runner headlight sensor, on the driver's side. THAT one, I have no clue how to stop. Anyone else have this at one point? Remedy?
