Half of radio screen is out

The other day when I started the car there was no light in the radio screen. About 30 seconds later half of it came on. The left side has no light but the information is visible if you look closely. I did a search (187 items found) It seems like there is no fix, just replace with a used Ebay radio ($10.00 approx.) Does anybody have any other info about this or a possible fix?

no clue either..same thing happened to my stock deck in my fire and so i figured it was time to get an AM deck..which i did and couldnt be happier ..should look into it

ya all the bottom half of my deck is burnt out........no lights at all...must mean i need a new deck.

You still under warranty? that is how I fixed mine

My '04 did the same thing within a year. With the miles I drive, my warranty was gone too. Didn't matter much since I was going to install a system.The right half of my HVAC controls did the same thing for a while. Then they came back on by themselves. Also my rear defrost button does the same thing (the courtesy lighting, not on/off light).

My brother's radio is doing the same thing. I recently purchased JVC HU for his birthday. That stock radio is really bad.

my 2004 has done this twice , once it lasted a week and came back on, then two months later same thing lasted a month ........but came back on and is working fine again

You may want to check w/ GMJAP, he has fixed many radios with burned out bulbs.The bulbs can be replaced if you feel like doing a little surgery. Nothing sucks more than burned out displays/controls/etc, man how that gets under my skin...
