2nd Generation Vibe (2003)

Post by yank dini »

As most of you know. I bought a second Vibe earlier this month, and I cant help to notice the major improvements done since the first ones rolled out in Jan 2002.I mean everything from the steering, torque and suspension has greatly improved over the last few months in which kinda sucks cause I am sure a lot of car reviews done were on those first generation Vibes that rolled out earlier. This car is not to be underestimated.

quote:Explain what improvements you have found? Are you comparing the same 2 cars??? I mean same transmission, model???Same Model (with the exception of the body and additional options)I am only comparing the Engine, Tranny and Suspension. The steering is more easier and comfortable. The suspension seems more solid even with my 18's on it. And the 4-speed VVT-i seems more responsive in 4th gear not to mention the smoother timing of the gears to get up to that 4th gear. My brother also noticed some changes in the body work but I didn't notice any of it but he is more of a car guy that I am any way so I took his word for it.

Do you know more in details of what kind of changes were actually made between 1st and 2nd generations Vibes? I'm guessing that a vehicle model would go through some changes each year. And since Vibe was introduced alittle early for 2003 model, it could have been revised before the 2004 model.I'm very curious, b/c I would like to avoid the 1st year glitches. But, if Vibe actually went through the iteration of changes in 2003, I wouldn't mind getting 2003 than waiting for 2004.Thanks!

yes, (during the test drive) i noticed some noise from the back/hatch/trunk area. And I realized that it was due to lack of carpeting to reduce the noise. I think that it's a good idea to get the carpet for the cargo area. Is there any good Vibe accessory place that sells genuine cargo cover/carpet?

I can only attest for Toyota, but I know that they have been making slight improvements to the Matrix year round. They have fixed and fine tuned some of the things from customer feedback. I can only assume Pontiac would be doing the same thing.Btw, why did you purchase a second Vibe? My first Matrix was totalled in 30 hours, so just curious -Slink
