A question for those in the know, I recently bought a Progress rear anti-sway bar from Neverenuf... the bar came by itself as one cast metal unit, but with no rubber bushings for the mounts. Is this right? I am a complete newbie at this, and do not know if I need to purchasing rubber washers/bushing before installing. Also, I noticed that the bar is vertically asymetrical. What i mean is that the bar is designed to be mounted with one side being the "up" side, and one side is being the bottom. (I hope this makes sense). Sadly, the instructions which came with the bar does not seem to clarify as to which is which. Can someone tell me if the "thicker" side of the mount is meant to be at the bottom or top? Final note, I also noticed that the weld spot is very different from the earlier designs seen in pictures on this forum, and that it no longer has the triangular weld reinforce found on earlier models.... guess they must have changed their design! Any advice would be appreciated (both about the bushings and as to how the bar is to be mounted). Thanks!
Hey Smurfy,I don't believe you need any bushings for the bar. I didn't have any with mine. Not sure rubber bushings would fit with the Bolt through the mounting hole.As for the top or bottom configuration with the mounting, If I remember correctly, I tried both ways and ended up with what I felt was the most centered in the axel brace thing. I can't check right now but I think that was with the bar centered more on the top of the mounting points, not below. (does that make sense?)Dave
The bar should bend toward the rear of the car, meaning the "thicker" part of the mount should be on the bottom.Lots of pics in this thread that should help:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1153
Hey Zuben,Quote, originally posted by ZubenElGenubi »The bar should bend toward the rear of the car, meaning the "thicker" part of the mount should be on the bottom. But, turn the bar upside down and the bend is still toward the back of the car but the thicker part is at the top. This picture shows the sticker as it should be but mine didn't have the sticker applied and didn't have the support welds which would have given a bit better clue as to how it's installed. But you did say what I said anyway so it's all good...Dave
Thanks for the response everyone... So to recap, the sway bar does not need bushings, and the thicker portion of the bolt hole should go on the bottom (effectively allowing the horizontal bar to be a bit above the middle when mounted). I'll take pictures once its mounted.
