What's funny is when I first looked at the picture with the door open, I thought those two little Black circles were cup holders I thought it was an odd spot, cause then you have to step over them everytime you get out, and in and might knock the cup into your car.... but then I realized something... I'm an idiot.

Well, a diesel option for the vibe would certainly be a great fuel saver. Unfortunately, identifying the reasons why we don't get them would end up bumping this thread to the asylum. At any rate, the Vibe wouldn't get that level of fuel economy... this car only weighs about 1500 pounds.Of course, even if they did import this, by the time they finished forcing them to adapt 500 pounds of unnecessary safety equipment (like the Smart cars, these vehicles already outperform existing vehicles in safety but they still make them put this junk in) and throw in a convention engine we'd be lucky if it got 60 mpg.

I'd gladly "settle" for 60 mpg.

If the safety standards built into these cars is good enough for the rest of the modern industrialized world, they ought to be good enough for us.2.. Not only will adding all those safety features lower the mpg from 113 to 60, but it will raise the cost from $15k to $30k, just as it's done with the Smart Cars.

If 'ugly' sold cars, this would be the top selling car in the world.
