03 GT Stalling when stopped

Yesterday I went and washed the car. About 5 miles down the road it started to rev up and then down and continue to surge like that when I had slowed down to stop or go around a corner. Sat in the parking lot for about ten minutes and just let the car run until it worked itself out. The Check Engine Light came on during all of this. Turned the car off, went grocery shopping. Came out an hour later and all was well in the world! CEL still on but running great. The next morning had no probs. CEL off and running fine. Later the same day going down the road and when I slowed to go around a corner the car stalled. Continued to stall if I didn't give immediate and constant gas. What the heck is wrong with my car? Any suggestions?

Thank you! It is helpful. I had been researching that possibility. Now I am trying to find out exactly where the IAC valve is located. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks again for the reply to the first post. This thing had me worried!
