Bought a Vibe last night (2-26)

Post by mr_ric10 »

I bought my Vibe last night, in large part because of this website. My old Nissan 200sx was totaled when my wife was stopped at a traffic light and got 'accordianed' between a soccer mom and a guy in an SUV who didn't notice that traffic had stopped in front of him. Luckily, no injuries. So, I began researching cars that would be good for the city, good on gas, small enough for tight parking and able to hand my wife's (artist) large canvasses.I read good reviews on the Vibe, then I stumbled on this site. The enthusiasm of the Vibe owners here made me want a Vibe as well. I wanted a slightly one with ABS but I got such a good deal on the one I bought, I figured I'd get them on my next car. I also wanted to go manual but my wife and I share a car and automatic seemed better for her.I did get the Moon&Tune option. The stereo gets pretty loud, which is fine. I do have a question though. Does the Aux button actually do anything? I don't see an input. What's the trick? Thanks and I'll get a picture of my own soon.

congrats on the vibe... they are really good cars. great gas mileage too.The AUX i dont remember what it does but theres a search feature in the upper right corner... try using it and you should find what others have asked or found on it.Take pics too!

A few weeks ago I bought my Vibe. It is pretty standard (did get the cruise/power locks option), 5 speed. So far, I enjoy it a great deal. Have yet to add gasoline, but I will be sure to check milage and post.I have been following some past postings about disabling the daytime running lights, and I have question about keys. I assume that only a key with the proper chip will start the car and that a basic cut key would not work?

Congrats on the Vibrix!Did you happen to also look at the Matrix (i.e. brother/cousin/etc.) You probably got a better deal on the Vibe though. One thing you will notice is that these cars can literally be thrown into nice tight spots. The turning radius on my last car (02 Civic Coupe) sucked horribly. I could not make turns with it to save my life. The Trix on the other hand whips into spots and tucks neatly inside a garage with plenty of room to spare. Speaking of garages, I need to change my oil tomorrow, I'll pickup a filter on the way home.Anyways, you will love the car. I got my 05 XR AWD Trix in August of 06 with 29k on it and have loved the last 14,000 I have put on it since then. Great car, good gas, and my AWD version kicks *** in the snow!

Regarding the Matrix, I did indeed look at that. I was unaware of either and looked at several wagon-styled rigs. When I first started shopping, I thought I would want a Ford Focus, but I did not like the way the seats folded down: you had to lift up the back seat bottom for the back of the seat to fold forward. Looked at other cards too: Suzuki, Saturn, Mazda, Nissan Versa (great car, just a bit too small and not enough room in the back when seat was down). The big selling point for me was 1) gas mileage and 2) the hard plastic surface of the seats and cargo area when folded down.I opted for the Vibe over Matrix for the roof rack. As well known they are the same car. In looking at my fuse box under dash, the cover of the box was stamped Toyata.

Yes and you will find that most parts they sell are going to say Toyota on them or be found from Toyota parts sites as well.I got the Matrix cause it did not have a roof rack, lol. Funny. I also like the wheel styling on the Trix a little better and the taillights. Enjoy!
