i contacted them in ragards to the length of life on them, b/c i have been reading all the posts on the genvibe site and stated to them that alot of people have had them blown after only a few months and the representative stated to me that they would send a pair to try out for free. I already have a set in my car now but i thought i would give i could another set.
Had them, they blew every 3 months on the dot for both my Civic and Matrix. Luckily I only put one set in the Trix and when they blew, I promptyl put in my Toshiba 9012 HIR's. Man those things are great. Not as pure white as the Silverstar but it puts out as much light as your stock high beams without extra glare. And I can see as much on the left curb as I can on the right. When my silverstars go in my fog lamps I will be buying another set of HIR's for those as well. The issue with Silverstar is their life rating which even confirmed by the factory is less than a normal halogen. I've spent a lot of money on 3 different cars with lighting and know way too much about it. For people that do not do a lot of night driving it is a fine bulb. But for me, I drive everywhere at night so they are on a lot longer than normal. Also since we have daytime RLs (which I disconnected ) it just uses up the life even more. BTW if anyone knows, are DRL's the law in Canada? I heard that somewhere cause my buddy sees people with their DRLs and yells out canuck? A term I don't use but just curious. And back...lol...bottom line, enjoy the freebie but 6 months from now spend $50 and get a set of HIR bulbs, you won't be dissapointed.
whelan -hey good tip ill have to look into the toshiba hirs, I need new head and fog light bulbs. And from my knowledge canada does require DRL on new cars.
I just got the car washed tonight bud, Ill take some pics of them for ya so you can see. The only place that sells the Toshiba brand is John Deere, you need to find them at jdparts.com through your local parts dealer and order them. They are actually made for the 9000 series tractors (the big ones in the midwest with 4 wheels per axle). Hey, if they can light up a field for these guys, they are fine for the car.
i got the silverstars in my car...havent had a problem yet..been about 2 years now(or when they first came out)..and the only difference between the "ultra" silverstars and the regular silverstars is the life length..
niice....might have to give them a call, and see if i can get a set. i have been wanting to get some of these, didnt know that the life of them suck! ill have to "try" them out
