I was on the highway this morning, nobody around so I got the car up to 110, just below the area where the limiter cuts it off. It was only for a second or too. Yes I know speed is dumb, but a few minutes after that, the CEL came on. I'm also considering it could be from a dirty MAF which I may clean, but never happened before, strange?
GM's already have this. It tells them the speed, direction, location, if seatbelts were on, etc. If you have OnStar the people actually call you if you hit something because all the sensors in the car pickup the hit and you get called to make sure your ok. It is good in some situations, but it should stay a passive system. GM was actually trying to incorporate this into their cylinder shutoff as well. Just like you mentioned where they can control the cars speed. It would essentially have you run on 4 cylinders all the time instead of 8 until you paid. But it never made it that far, yet._______________________________________________________________-Also, I went to AutoZone once and asked to have the code read, they said they couldnt do it, but yet they advertise that they can???
Definitely should not trigger a failure if you hit the limiter. I used to bounce off of the redline a few times when I was in lower gears...unintentionally...but it never caused that problem. Also, I bounce off the limiter frequently in my G6 playing with manual shift mode...also no issues there. On a side note, my understanding is the "black box" in the GM cars is NOT for law enforcement purposes, or for insurance company purposes, but rather, for diagnostic purposes, in the event someone claims a failure of the car caused the accident.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
You're probably too lean due to the intake or dirty MAF. Intakes make a lot of their power by leaning out the mix at high RPM. The cars are rich there to keep things cool enough to not burn out the CAT at sustained high RPM use. I'd clean and reset. Yor CAT is probably fine. Sustained high flow would also clear the extra oil off the filter and muck up the MAF. There easy to over oil. Cels won't come on from hitting the limiter but it may be in the memory. Clearing the ECU isn't a bad idea.

It's probably that drunken. I tend to keep the O/D off while accelerating and playing on the highway, and I think today I held it to almost 100. I usually turn it on again like 90ish. So that is probably it.I will reset tonight and see what happens. P.S. - Don't think I'm a nut who plows down the road doing 90+ all the time. Usually it's a steady 80. Besides I just put the intake on
It may have set a lean fuel code if you hit the limiter and the car cut back. And yes the freeze frame info for the set code will show how fast you were going when it set.

Could also be a hot catalytic converter throwing off your emissions. Anything else noticaable happen with your car? Any new noises or performance issues? But, yeah, need the exact code! Go to Autozone and have it read for free!

I have hit the limiter on many an occasion on the Highway and at the track (I'm also modified as well) but have never had a CEL light ever....well except when I fried the MAF twice (don't work on the battery with a metal wrench and touch the CAI, this is very bad )lol).
