Are you sure that it lights up during the day?I could see where having the dimmer switch set to be really low, during the day when just the daytime runing lights were on, the indicator might be fully lit, but at night when the headlights are on and the dimmer kicks in, the light might be too dim to see. But I'd expect that the rest of the indicators would be dim also.If it turns out that the light is burnt out and it just looks like it is lit up during the day, http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=14014 has some discussion on how to replace the bulb.Welcome to genvibe. Good luck with the ice tonight
yes , I am sure the light is on during the day. and not at night. I drive with instrument lights set to highest setting It keeps me awake! I also turn my headlights on when I drive. It seems that the shift indicator light is on even before I start the car!any help much appreciated.
I am confused here... Why would it be ON during the day at all? It should not be on during the day to me...Mine works like it should, off during the day, on at night.
I think I get what they're saying.I assume they're referring to the orange dot that appears beside the gear indicator on the automatic transmissions. That is not a light, but is only an orange dot. Thus, it will be visible during the day, and not at night.

The acutal letter PRND2L should be lit with that ominous Toyota Green. I am chaning mine to red to match every other color in the Trix at night, red! Why they didnt do that in the first place. You can do it easily if your careful. Take a small flathead and pry the selector plastic out. reach in, pull out old bulb, put in new then reinsert the plastic. It has enough room to bend and pop out, be gentle so as not to crease or break it though.

I do not know what everyone else is referring to but I am talking about PNRDL12. I did not think it was supposed to be lit until I heard a click the other night and it lit up for the balance of my trip. Never seen light there before or since.

Not only do my PNRDL12 letters indicate, but my orange dot is illuminated by the same bulb.I can tell because as I shift gears in the parking lot I can see the dot get dimmer the further it is away from what I assume is the light source in the middle of the assembly.I can assure you that light shines through my orange dot (not brightly however)Diane
