tranny flush

Post by melders »

well, my vibe is in the shop for a Transmission Flush, dang, its expensive 168.95. but the 168.95 is a lot cheaper than the 4000 for a new transmission later. does anyone know what is so special about this t-5 formula that is in the transmission on the vibe?

The only thing special about it, as I understand it, is that it's Toyota's formula. Just like Honda has their formula and GM, Ford and Chrysler also have their's. I think most of what you were charged was for labor.

It's not as simple as letting it drain out and then just refilling it. There is a machine that truly flushes it out and gets rid of the old fluid.Actually though, I think manual transaxles just get drained and don't go through the whole flushing process with the machine.

When you have your tranny flushed, how many qts. of fluid do they use and how much do they charge per qt? Are there any other parts, (gaskets, filters, etc.) charged on the invoice? Thanks.

It doesn't say on my invoice. But they did use a new gasket. All it says they use is bulk ATF,nothing about capacity, but most of the the total price is labour.I will be doing my next change, but had to have them do it because I still have some warranty left. And TCAM,I will only do a drain and fill,I've been doing it for years on my other vehicles with no problems.
