I keep seeing these show up on ebay by various different people. The design is all the same but range from $10-30.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemNormally I call BS on this stuff, like electric turbos, but just thought I would see what others say.
Those and the electric superchargers do have their uses - they probably make pretty good paperweights! A 16% increase in ponies plus 31% in fuel economy can't come from a cheap piece of sheet metal. Typical ebay scam! File this in there with the electric supercharger and the magic +25 HP for $25 resistor box. Popular Mechanics tested these things and found them to be worthless. Quote »Air intake "vortex" or "tornado:" It looks like a gerbil wheel and supposedly increases airflow (and thus engine power) by creating "vortexes" in the air intake system. But all this product really does is create a vortex that sucks money out of your wallet and routes it directly to the company that sold you this rip-off. In fact, independent testing of these devices has found they actually lower horsepower (and hurt fuel economy) by creating excess turbulence or impeding airflow into the engine.Check the thread here about this wonderful gizmo and other things! http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=20822

the funniest thing about the logic of these products is this:If they actually worked, wouldn't every American car manufacturer install them in their car and light truck lines to help them make CAFE standards?
