What does it mean to have your valves lashed? lol. and when should this be done? around 55k miles??

I thinkf "to have your valves lashed" means to have the valve clearance adjusted. see http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=8160Either that or it could an increase in heart rate resulting from being winked at by a pretty girl.
