Ok, being I have been feeling a bit better these days I decided to try and install the cosmo CAI on my 06 AWD vibe today.Well, it didn't go too well. I got the old plumbing out just fine. When I went to install the piping from cosmo it didn't line up.Below are the photos.Any ideas what I should try?Old setup.NEWThe vibra mount didn't line up cuz it piping ended up hitting the lower portion of the headlight. To top it off the second peice of piping looked as if I would have to cut some of the sub frame to get the peices to line up?Ideas? Thanks

I have emailed cosmo and sent them photos as well. I will wait to hear back from them to insure that I have the correct setup... I even emailed them, and put in the notes that this setup was for a 06 vibe with a 1zz engine....

Well I have an 04 1 piece tube and it was a PITA to line up.I had to give it a little muscle to line it all up.I also thought mine was the wrong model but persistence was the key.Keep all the clamps loose and force it into place, and check the box to see if you have the right model.

yours looks WAY wrong. I installed a cosmo intake on my friend's 05 Matrix. It fit pretty well with no issues on the bend. Yours however doesn't seem right at the vibration mount. It should be longer and slip through the hole in the fender so you can pop on the air filter. It doesn't even look like you have room for that.

I have the same intake for mine. And yeah, it was hard as hell to get it on. But I did get it on. It has literally 2 mm of clearance between the headlight and foglight. I don't know why the have the two piece now. I think that is an inferior design. But anyways. I can take pictures before I take it off for you if you want. Shoot me an email so I don't forget though. Thanks.Inder

I just got home from work and did get a reply back from cosmo. They tell me it's the correct intake but from what csnow sent me photos of his car and the intake I would have to cut the piping and the subframe to get the dame thing to fit properly. In the email I got back from the company they suggested that I bend the vibra-mount to get it to fit... HU!. It's a full inch off.... How am I going to bend a welded peice of metal a full inch with out cracking the finish on the intake????I could make the vibra mount fit but the issue is with the sub-frame and the adjustment ring on the back of the headlight. I can't bend or cut the headlight nor do I want to cut my sub-frame to get the intake to fit! This is just a bad design... they should have stayed with the one peice design for the 1zz engine.

Ok, Got a new email from cosmo today.Below is the info. The 2003/2004 CAI is different from 2005-2006. The CAI for Vibe 05-06 and models with foglights it is now 2 pieces due to tight fitting with foglights (easier for installation than 1 piece especially in Vibe) and you received the correct intake; except it is defect in wrong position bracket, bends or angles but only happened 2 times so far for hundreds sets intake sold. You don’t need to cut anything and drill anything for your model and the intake will go under the headlight in tight. I will have our tech dept to contact you soon. From what they are suggesting now is that I don't use the vibra-mount and just screw it fast. I may be able to get it to work with out using the vibra-mount. Pending the weather this weekend I will attempt it again. Not sure about the sub-frame yet though.NISMODid you have to cut any of the intake to get it to fit properly? If so what pipe, which end and about how much? How long did it take you to man-handle it into position?I also noticed that you have the red tube attached to something by the firewall... I was under the impression I would only need to use one of the welded bungs, what do you have your hose attached too?

remember his is an 03-04... cuz we dont use that nipple for our intakes... mine was closer to the engine, that one was capped off. and with mine i had to cut off like 2" so the filter can fit.Thats wierd they made it 2 piece... im just gonna get a SR intake.

I think once the tech department contacts you, they will ship you a new part. Probably just the defective part and not a whole intake. That's what I would be asking for if I was you. I always had excellent service from Cosmo.
Mine was a 2 piece as well. And I didn't cut anything on mine. Just took some wiggling to get it in there. And bout the dirty intake. That's what happens when you drive in MI

If the weather permits I will try and install the intake yet again this weekend using the tips they suggested. They are soposed to call me and help me with my issues.. I have yet to receive that call though.Right now I am having too much fun using my AWD to it's fullest. 2inchs of snow topped by 3 inches of sleet and then 3 more inches of snow on top of that.... I would have never made it to work today with out the AWD. Even with just the standard all season tires on the car it went were I wanted it too with out getting stuck.. It did wiggle here and there but nothing I couldn't handle.. fun part was watching my neighbors eyes get real big when I gunned the engine and ended up going up the street at a 45 degree angle.. lol ... fun fun fun...

Alright people,Heres the update!I got it installed.... YEA....I was difficult but managed to get it on with out cutting the intake or the subframe. I did have to bend the vibra-mount, mounting flange to get it to fit properly though.I didn't take photos but I had to take the nose off and take out the driver side headlight. With that off I was able to manage the intake in to place and get the headlight back in place. I did have an issue with the second peice of piping. I ended up turning it around so it would clear the fog light. It is on an angle not at a 90deg with the ground and I had to use the supplied filter for now. I will have to get the long skinny dry-flow filter in the summer to leave enough room behind the fog light. I drove it with out any issues. No CEL's and the power really kicks in about 3500rpm's to 5000rpm's.In all it took me about 1.5 hrs to get it on..... Lots of test fitting the nose back on for clearance on the fog light.
