Focus SVT

Post by GT_03 »

My buddy just got a Focus SVT, and all i can say is WOW!!! It is the complete opposite of just a ZX3. Leather-heated seats, HID's, and one of the best handling cars i've been in. I still love my Vibe GT, and we pretty much stay neck-to-neck on the highway, but when we hit a turn he is gone. He is in the process of getting a Jackson Racing Supercharger, so I guess i'll be playing catch up.

Remember too his car is smaller and lighter than yours and is built for cornering. His suspension is a lot different than the Vibes. The SVT's are no joke. They are good cars. You will have to do quite a bit of suspension tuning to catch up with him. Probably springs and sway bars.

That is unless the drastically changed them this year. For example, in a round up of wagons, Motortrend found that the Gt w/17" had the same skid, braking, and slalom numbers, plus the 0-60 times where the same. I'm not sure about the track width and length, but that may be the size difference you speak of. I do agree though it's a nice car and the additions like HID and leather would be welcomed in the Vibe. You also have a benefit in the car since you can add a supercharger, though the compression is still pretty high in that car as well.Edit: I checked it out and the SVT weighs about 100 lbs less. My mistake. I'm serious though about the larger rims and tires making a huge difference. The SVT is running on Z rated tires which helps it plus the torque down low is something our cars are lacking. Try some 17" Z rated on your car and maybe a HP mod and it should be a lot better for you in the twisties.
