ok so I'm thinking about spending some cash on my vibe. This is what I think I'll do, grab a c.a.i. off ebay and add an electronic supercharger ( http://www.mimousa.com/home.as...d=952) along with new headers. But the only problem is I want more speed without a lot more noise. I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old that ride in the car often. I've also heard about the cai affecting the check engine light. Any input or other ideas?

Wow, you must be getting alot of money back. I was just hoping to get new speakers.

If you buy the electric supercharge I will drive to your house, and follow you wherever you go pointing and laughing.Get serious, all those small parts that could potentially break off and get shot right into your intake manifold, not worth it. It's a cheap plastic gimmic that will not give you any realy benefits. It's about as smart as putting a blow off valve sound machine under the hood. One man Knight, did make an electric supercharge, but it is a very well built machine and needs a few extra batteries to run. Which to me means more weight to get the power which would negate the power gain in the first place. These things are simple knockoffs of that product and will do you about as much good as an Ebay performance chip.If you do buy one though be sure to add the following to your car:-windshield washer LED nozzles-LED exhaust tip w/ a Pep Boys muffler-an unpainted body kit-mirror tints-a flag of some sort across your hood-A fake hood scoop-stickers, stickers, and more stickers-cut your springs to lower it-neon license plate frameAnd if you want more advice, ask Bubb Rubb"The whistles go wooo, wooooooo!!!!"P.S.-this is my new signature, lol.
A stock or even one optima battery cannot supply enough juice to a product like that to produce any noticeable difference in HP. stick with just the CAI and get a nice exhaust to free up some power. And here is the Knight kit I was talking about, he mounts the batteries in the trunk and they are rechargable through the beefed up HO alternator he put on the car as well. They act more like NO2, more than an actualy supercharger producing the same effect as a 25-75 shot of nitrous depending on the car, model, engine, etc. Again, he uses a different set of batteries to run the system. So connecting to wires to your car for this thing shown above he is looking at is literally a waste of $$$ One last thing, Knight is the only one to have developed a working Electric Supercharger that has proven any gains, and he does not have the best reputation for quality so I can only imagine that thing you mentioned. This looks nothing like what you are buying. Granted this is a Roots Type.Do you have this many batteries

thanks, now I know to stay away from the electronic superchargers. What about the level of noise with a cai compared to with no cai. and also any other ideas on any other mods that are pretty good for the buck?
Well having no cai I'm assuming you mean stock airbox, because no cai or airbox will be very loud, raspy, and you will end up sucking a lot of crud into your intake manifold.A cai gives a nice low sucking noise at idle and typically sounds fairly normal when driving nice (grandma-ish). When you hit higher RPMs where the power is, the car growls. It's a slick sound and once you hear it, you will never want to go back.As far as other mods, it really depends on a few factors:Your BudgetDo you have a ton of cash flow to buy the best of the best, or maybe only some really good components. In cars I have found that you typically get what you pay for unless you DIY (Do It Yourself) and make a better setup or something that is completely unique. What are You Going forAll show, no go, or vice versa. Or maybe a healthy mix. A little oomph and a slick interior or audio system? This is where you need to put thought in. I typically try to be well rounded, doing a little here and there. Some people may strip a car down just for pure speed, others may throw on big body kits, air bag suspensions, huge wheels, and other accents which do not help the car go any faster, but they help win shows. People do also try to get sponsors for their cars, then they go to the shows to sport the products and hopefully win trophies. So it really depends, also, use the search function for things you are interested in, you will find lots of useful information.
my taxes are goin to getting the supercharger... then i gotta budget getting everything else. Then ima get a exhaust tip BOV and have the whine when im bosting then a "pssssh" sound when i shift!!!! haha
