HAHA, so a bunch of my friends, my dad and me had a fun time anihilating my carbon fiber hood. It was VERY tough let me tell you. I was walking on it and jumping on it and it didnt even dent or bend. Even hitting with a mallet and sledge hammer just chipped off the clear coat and didn't even damage the actual carbon fiber. Once we busted out the axe and pick, then that's when it started getting wrecked Then I sat on it when it was broken it enough and broke it in tway. Now I'm hoodless until they ship me my new one. Here are some pics, and a video I made with music for your entertainment VIDEO:http://andersleet.com/uploads/...royed
lol nice colonel. If you look at the second picture, aside from the sledge hammer mark, you can see how the sun destroyed the finish and made it look really hazy, especially in the daytime.I will hav eonly paid $550 once this new one comes so not quite $600. buying another OEM would defeat the purpose of having a carbon fiber one
Yeah I had fiberglass particles all over my clothes and in my lungs cause I forgot to wear a mask. I broke the hood in half and cut off a little square witha hack saw for everyone there to have a little piece of my baby BTW check back, I'm trying to get the stupid video to upload.
Was there a reason you didn't try to get a little money out of it? An honest auction on it's condition with a fair price might have helped you out a bit.Anyways, good luck with your next hood choice. I know your car has been a long time coming.
Yeah it was either waste another $70 and send it back so they could destroy or just do it myself so either way it had to be destroyed or they wouldn't send me a new one.Video is working now too btw

OK, so after anihilating the hood on Friday, I sent out the pictures to JSP via email on Saturday, figuring they would not get them until Monday, but to my surprise my dad calls me up tonight (Tuesday) and says the hood came in! I have never delt with sucha fast shipping time, they must have tied it to a delayed release switch on a cruise missle or something!Anyways, the new hood looks to be in PERFECT condition. The packing compared to the first I got was 900% better and more sturdy. This new one even has the aluminum JSP logo on the underside and the approval stamp. I have pics of the hood I will post but I dare not try to install it while the weather stays below 5 degrees F so I'm going to have to patiently wait until it starts to warm up before I will get any shots with it actually installed. BTW that giant pile of packing material is what it was wrapped in, and that is my dad in the back.
that looks like very high quality. we just helped our buddy install a Seibon CFB hood on his new 07 STI. also impressed by the quality. not a huge CFB fan, but with a dark grey or black car... looks rather nice.
Yeah with the metallic black of the abyss color and the grey cladding, it really looks nice and ties it togther IMO. Now if this hood lasts and deflects the UV rays like it should I might draw out a template or something and paint part of it but I better just leave it bee for the time being with my luck (removed)...So now the only big things left I have to worry about are pulling my (removed) outa debt by paying off those $650 tires, then somehow finding a new two-toned rear bumper, and finish off hte system with my leather wrapped side panels (also paint the sub box black), and then I'll enter her into a few shows to try and win some awards and trophies maybe .....then it's SUPERCHARGER TIME BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the only problem was the hazing??? I could have fixed that! Why not make a fake hood and destroy it then keep that one and get a new one???Check this link out if you want to keep your CF parts new without the hazing effect of washing and the sun!http://meguiarsonline.com/foru...+hoodscroll down the thread to see the pics in there.
great video... sux bout the hood merz... but hey your getting a new one.

Is that company going to start making and selling those now? I would like to do something like that seeing my hood has a ton of rock chips and bugs have destroyed the paint.Edit- I just read the other post about them having them in stock.
