Just wanted to say heah been awhile since i have been on, Been working on my 48 Chevy fleetline Pro Street, for awhile now its still in mock up but making some good progress thought i would share it with you i know you dont get many of these kind of old school cars on here but hot rods have been my passion since i was small and this one is pretty unique,In short the car has had a narrowed rear end and the car has been back halfed narrowed 9" ford rear and 4-wheel disc's, Fenders have been weldedand trim holes welded up, engine is on its way to engine shop to be built its a 415 Stroked 400 SB chevy with a 350 turbo tranny with a 3,500 stahl and 4.56 gears engine should make a conservative 560hp-585hp heres a few photos and a build journal i put together just thought id give you something curvey to look at lol later George
Hey George. Why did you go with the 400 block instead of the 350 or a big block.Looks like you have a great setup.I just finished my Chevelle and stroked my 454 to 460 and have 4.11 gears and a 3500 stall converter in a turbo 400.Does this thing haul,WOW.I love the pro street look, what size rear tires are you running.I couldn't really see,but did you shave the body. And what type of interior are you going to do.Best of luck in the long hours ahead, but man is it well worth it.

Thanks guys! Yes the body has been smoothed of all the trim and moldings except for handles and window trim the motor is a 1970 400 block with a 3.875 crank and 6" rods will be a single plane with AFR alumin 220 cc heads should run pretty good with 4.56 gears and a value body, As for completed time not in a hurry body is about to come back off frame to start smoothing it up and to paint it aswell still kicking around colors leaning towards an orginal 40's color like a gray green color no met but with all the mods smoothing etc and plan on running the ET dragmaster wheel si'll try and get a post up of them they will be ordered soon, just ordered my air ride for it so pretty excited to get the suspension finished, and mocked up and then tear back down to start smoothing no plans to get it done soon want to really have fun with car and make it really right and nice plan on showing it aswell as racing it. interior i purchased a 57 chevy truck speedo im going to run in the middle of a custom built dash, i'll try and get some photos up thansk again i'll try and keep you posted if interested in an old chevy still lol later all George http://www.etwheels.com/et/images/50dragmaster.jpg
Im helping my dad work on his 31 Ford 5 window coupe aswell and yes 32's are the god of the hot rod worls lol ours will be a 60's style hot rod with a 406 engine and vintage looking car aswell
The reason i went with a 400 is an easy ? to answer big cubes in a small package 400 are essentially a big block in a small block same as a 396 BB inside plus it will be stroked its the engine of choice if you wanna go fast in a light weight package thansk later also tires are 33x19.5 mickey thompson's with a 15x15 rear wheel and a 4"x15 frnt
The reason I was asking about the 400 is that you don't see to many 400 build ups, most are running a 350 or 396.It was refreshing to see that particular motor used.Great job so far George.

My dad just rebuilt the top end of my Camaro for me (no place in NoVa to do it myself) Cracked head and broken valvespring. And he just finished the Vintage Air install in the '33. Not sure what the next project will be!Would kind of numbers are you expecting to put down with 400?
my engine shop builds and races there own fast camaros etc and hard to say 1/4 mile times high 11's would be perfect but car should run easy low 12's in street trim we'll see besides everyone hopes and thinks there car will run faster than it is lol but the weight and power with these gears and this much tire should really hook nice thanks
Heah guys just thought id fill you in on my progress of my hot rod, Cars still in mock, I got the doors off and working on smoothing door jambs and firewall and all the little seems from the factory comming along pretty well all this custom stuff takes awhile but should be worth it when done lol i'll try and keep you posted

Thanks guys heres the dash i just finished i smoothed the whole dash and im running a 57 chevy truck gauge cluster in it with a 56 chevy steering wheel and an ididit custom column with no ignition swith on it for a really smooth appearnce.
well a little update i worked today on the 48 and fianlly opened up the top of my hood, it use to open where it meets at the fenders but i welded it shut and wanted a custom early mercury style pancked hood so i layed down my cut line and measured a million and one times and took my time cutting it open, and waaaaala now have to build my innner fender wells and a smooth latch area but getting a little closer lol later George
