is there anyone who knows what the discount on a new vibe (2007) would be w/ the GM employee discount/pricing? or any way to find out what the (ideally canadian) dealer price/cost is?
If you go on to gmfamilyfirst.com in the top bar there is a section that has build your own in it. when you click on that it takes you to gmbuypower.com but it is in the gm discount secure site. you can build a vibe and it will give you the gm discount price. if i remember right when i got my vibe the sticker was 21,600 and the gm price was 19,100. not exactly those prices but somewhere in that range.
thinkin about a vibe on a lease to save in monthly payments vs my financed xrs....tryin to save for a housegf not happy w/ my want to get new vibe and use springs, wheels, tires, sri, and exhaust on it. not happy at all!she wants me to get an optra on a lease so we can just ditch it in 4yrsi want a vibe so i can still have a slightly modded car.vibe is more montly, but economy in engines makes them only like 10-15$/month different....but she is NOT happy with me wanting a vibe. doesnt see the point of modding a leased car. i just want to continue to drive a modded car.so: happy gf > fun car?
You shouldn't mod a leased car - lest you pay the penalty or restore it to stock prior to returning it. Also, some leases have very specific language regarding where your vehicle is serviced.I'm not a big fan of shopping for a vehicle based on monthly payments (which is what I believe you are hinting at). If you do your research in advance, you will know what your monthly payments should be.Also, leasing is another thing I get tense about. If you lease a $20,000 car for 48 months with payments of about $299, when all is said and done, you'll have paid $14,352 for a car you'll have to either return or pay $12,000 or so to release the lease. In addition, you'll pay roughly $0.40-$0.50 per mile over the mileage alotment and any other pro rata stuff for chips, dents, dings, etc. That's paying at least $26,000 if you want to own it. If not, you've paid $14,350+ for a rental. If you had been paying $460 a month over the same time frame, you'll have paid $22,080. You will also have equity in the car - in the ball park of being worth maybe $7,500 or so.So for owning the car, you have a realized cost of about $14,580 ($22k - $7.5k). Whereas for leasing, you will have paid $14,350 at a minimum in this example. However, I won't discount the difference of $160 in monthly payments as that can be steep.

i am looking at monthly payments only, which i know is bad.i got the salesman to get me quote on a vibe with nothing on it......249/month for 48 month lease taxes in.....however, to save more money, i think ill be going down another step in cars to a pontiac wave....its only 170/month for a 48 month lease......the problem with the money is that i want to save the maximum amount of money in the next 12-18months to save for a downpayment on a house......and we're looking to save 25%there are some mods available to the waveo (as i like to call it)......and chances are good that with a 5300 buyout at the end, if its run well over 4yrs, we'll pick it up as a daily commuter....
