He won't show the entire car because it's officially being unveiled at Chicago next week. Trust me, though, what you see there WILL be what you'll see in the showroom!

Found this at automobile.comWe've got to thank Charles Gibson for this one. The ABC anchor was able to talk Rick Wagoner into giving us all a sneak peek at the new Holden Commodore-based Pontiac G8, and it looks pretty mean. Just look at those wheels. The G8 promises to be as fun as the outgoing GTO coupe but feature an exterior design that we'd expect in 2007, not 1997. Check back on February 8 for more details and pictures of what could be the best American sedan since the Chrysler 300C. Pictured below is the Holden Commodore from which the G8 is derived. http://www.automobilemag.com/a...ac_g8/

You can't translate them to american dollars - it just doesn't work. There are other fees, taxes, etc. that are consolidated into that number which would inaccurately inflate the cost in American dollars. The aussies also get many features and options that won't be made available to the north american market, thus bringing down the cost even more on our end.MSRP is to start around 25.

Rebadging is becoming part of the industry. The key, now, is to rebadge tastefully. No more cavalier/sunfire or cobalt/G5 disasters. As said above - this car will not exist in ANY other from in north america...it will truly be unique to pontiac.

Right, but GM is falling far behind the rest of the industry as far as design goes. The C6/Z06 is an exciting car and eats it competition for far less. But the res of the GM lineup seems quite ho-hum to me.LX platform for example, which seems to be what this car is aimed at, was a truly unique design. When was the last time GM did this with success? It's either a rebadge or more plastic thrown on.I'm sure it will be a great car. Just nothing that exciting IMO. I guess I'll just need to wait and see the final product. Not just the front bumper.
The majority of the public won't see it as a rebadge because they have no idea this car is made in Australia. The last time GM did this (with the GTO) the car flopped because people didn't think it was worthy of the GTO name. The G8 isn't a rebadge by any typical standards; there's no chevy/cadillac/saab etc. version being planned and it is an entirely unique car to the United States.
