Parking lot visitor

Post by Kari »

We had a little (or big) visitor in our parking lot this afternoon...I looked outside and saw it licking the snow off of the front end of someone's car. Then when it jumped back into the trees I saw there were two of them...looks like a doe and a fawn.Fawn behind the dumpsterDoe behind a carBoth deer in the trees

Those are pleasant visitors. I had a couple outside of my fence the other night. My goofy dog scared them off, of course.

See lots of deer around here... even saw a Coyote in my backyard (okay just past the fence in my backyard). I guess I see deer mostly on the way down to Kingston. But wildlife in general is pretty good where I live right now as I back onto a wooded area right in the middle of Ottawa.

can't stand them. They make windy road driving at night un-fun We have a family of 5 of them in my woods behind my house. driving home at night I see them running through the yards across the street and down the side of my house all the time. Not to mention the Fox in my neighborhood, the Turkeys (which the Fox ate some), the rabbits, and who knows what else. But that's all I see.I also did not know Turkeys can fly. I found this out about a year ago when I saw the ones in my backyard take flight and go into the trees to sleep at night.

That is how it is around here for the most part. They aren't so much a "pretty animal"....but a overgrown rodent. MN is overpopulated by them big time. Year round...but especially in the fall when they hit rut...you can find them laying everywhere on the roads due to being hit by vehicles. Seems as though every year...at least one story is published about a deer that finds it's way onto one of the major highways in Minneapolis and ends up tying up traffic. Running through department store windows and sliding glass doors on homes....Last year in the area I was allowed to hunt...the DNR was allowing each individual to take 1 antler + up to 4 more antleress deer to try and bring the population down to control winter starvation and inbreeding. I just do my part to help control the population and enjoy the rewards. (Butterflied backstraps marinated on the grill are just so tasty!)
