Automated Parking Garage

While paroozing around yahoo I saw an article for an automated parking garage being put in NY City. They have a few up around the world but here is a youtube clip. http://youtube.com/watch?v=iIg0sCHRE8o http://youtube.com/watch?v=iIg0sCHRE8oThink of this:-the maintenance savings-the worry free parking (no dents, dings, maneuvering)-Vehicle Security, no more car theft from a parking garage. I am just baffled and so excited to see more of these pop up in busy areas. All the land and area saved is just incredible, think of how much money these people are going to make.

That is neat... I just hope that the thing the car sits on doesn't allow for liquids or the like to fall on the car below... I don't think I'd like to have some ghetto sled parked above me spewing its bodily fluids down on my car! Or yikes, imagine a chunk of ice falling down off the car above you! Very cool find, I didn't know this stuff existed.

Hope the experience in NYC is better than it was in Hoboken where a similar structure has been involved in a technical and legal morass dating back to 2004 and is still not functioning properly. At times people who had parked their vehicles in the structure were unable to retrieve them. There have also been at least two instances where cars were dropped within the structure: a Jeep fell four floors and a Cadillac was dropped from the sixth floor.Here's a blog with some of the history:http://hoboken411.com/archives/3524

thats sick...reminds me of the VW car "parking lot" in Germany..where it's just a tower..about 40 floors..just a circular tower..alot of space saving with it thats for surefound a pic of it
