Vibe vs PT cruiser

Post by GT Guy »

I ended up with a vibe gt, but seriously considered a PT, which is way more common so far. I still really like the looks better of the PT. Anyone else have similar feelings?

I was looking at a Cruiser, but the final price with all the options I wanted was a few grand more than the Vibe. Damn glad I chose the Vibe.... Check out this link too:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=2456

I also looked into the PT..... As some have said too expensive with all the options plus it is gutless and kind of getting old looking... It was cool when it came out but now just too many of them around.Did you look into the Protoge 5....... It is much nicer looking and cheaper.... again where I live I see about 20 Protoges for every Vibe. It's nice to be different.Love my Vibe.

I personally can't stand the PT Cruiser. There are too many of them on the road, they are overpriced and they are not as versatile as the Vibe. Not to mention you get one of their "UN"Limited Edition's as well. It is also like all of the other Chrysler's on the road...gutless unless you get the turbo which then the cost is even more.Like I said, this is my personal opinion. I think you made an excellent choice with your Vibe.

also....I haven't heard any discouraging words about the PT in particular but I wouldn't expect that a token chrysler would be as reliable as a GM/Toyota. A fellow at work had a wheel Hub come off his PT cruiser, the car was dead on the side of the road. Luckily it happened while going around a low speed corner. It took the dealer a month to fix it.Remember the Neon? Chrysler wants you to forget them, they changed the name. Many PT parts come from the Neon.....

My boss was one of the first to buy a PT. When I was shopping for my car, I asked him about the low power. At that time he defended it (what choice did he have?) but the second they came out with a Turbo'ed PT he was the first to trade his weak PT for one.I don't like the rear view of the PTs. Was following one yesterday and all I could think was "That car has a fat a$$!".And the PT was oversold in my town. You can't throw a rock without hitting one. I'm extremely glad I got a Vibe. I've only seen 2 or three others so far.KSNeptune.

It is a matter of taste, but I also prefer the look of the Vibe vs the Cruiser anytime. And, I owned a Neon and vowed it was to be the last Chrylser product that I buy...

PT Cruiser are EVIL!! There are way too many of them. I think there should be an open season on them to thin out the herd.

I personally like the way the PT looks but was very unimpressed with the gas mileage. Reports of poor build quality and the car being underpowered, coupled with seeing one at practically every corner were major factors having me look elsewhere.

heh, I really liked the Pt Criuser untill one of my freinds who is a mechanic said that it was built off a Neon body frame. Several other people have told me that same idea.I can't stand Neons. No offense just all my freinds who have bought a Neon have had problems with them.

I think that the PT was a great idea and am glad it came to market. I really wish that more retro cars would be built. When I first heard that the Thunderbird was coming back, I was really excited. Then they were all sold before the first one came out and I saw the price. Then I was a bit disappointed. I still think it looks great, but is not worth the money. My 2000 Mustang picked up some of its heritage in a somewhat retro look that I liked a lot. I'm glad designers are bringing back highly popular old cars with a moderized look. I just think the PT has gotten worn out. Time to freshen it up or end it. It just isn't special anymore. Plus I am no fan of Chrysler products. When I saw the pricetag and the power output, I said, "neat idea, but no thanks". It can't really compare to the Vibe. The Vibe has a distict power advantage, uniqueness, value, and versitility that the PT just can't currently match. I'd still take my Vibe GT over a Turbo PT even if they cost the same.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Where did I hear that? As an owner of both a PT and a Vibe I think they are both great choices. I am happy to be able to have one of each. That Neon crap is just that - crap. Like saying your 4th cousin was a crook so you must be one too! PT reliability has been good, and almost everyone that has one appears to be well satisfied, just as almost every Vibe owner is well satisfied. I paid too much (full MSRP) for my PT but now with generous dealer discounts and a $2,500 rebate they are a pretty good deal. In 1993 I bought a new Colt Vista Wagon that in size and function is very similar to both the PT and the Vibe and it cost almost as much as you can buy a higher quality and better equipped 2003 PT or VIBE. THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BE A CAR BUYER.
