Sad News

Post by tnpartsguy »

The Princess Vibe (my boss's daughter's white '03 base with Pink Overlays) is gone. Her and her boyfriend (he was driving) got hit head on by a drunk driver this weekend. I have NOT seen the car yet, but my boss says it's a total loss; it was rolled several times, and all the windows are gone. The owner of the car was riding in the passenger seat, she got a broken nose, and some cuts (probally from flying glass), the driver jammed his knee, and also has SOME cuts from glass, but they both survived. My boss says he's very proud of the way the car protected his daughter, and will PROBABLY buy another! i really, really hate hearing these stories about accidents. at the same time though, i'm always glad to hear that no matter how much damage the vibe takes, folks are coming away from the accident alive (and in a lot of cases with rather minor injuries).

Glad to hear they are alright. I can personally vouch for the vibe being able to protect very well in accidents. Props to them getting another Vibe. I wanted to get another one, and was ready to buy one, until I sat in it. Driving the same car that I was almost killed in scared the hell out of me.

I think everyone who is caught drunk driving, especially those in an accident should be put in a room with the people they hit, the people they hit should be given bats and allowed 5 minutes to turn the person into a pulp to show them how they feel.I know I would feel better after that. Then I would sue sue sue sue sue sue sue. I am not a big person on suing, i.e. the Mcdonal's coffee lady was just a moron, but for something like this, the person should go to jail for a very long time.

Poor Princess Vibe. It looks like it held up fairly well...maybe the airbags are what blew out the windows? It doesn't really look like it rolled but it's hard to tell from the pics because they're small.

Holy schnikes! I'm so glad they made it out of that ok! I hope they have a speedy recovery, no long term issues. Tell them to avoid SILVER like the plague... That's another one of the colors for poorest visibility. Red will do the trick nicely, that's bright! Then there's that whole cops thing, but hey.

Yes, and Lava is especially bright...that would probably be a good choice if you can't find fusion.

Her BF, the driver, was able to go bowling last night, still sore, but still....able to do anything after that's pretty good. She on the other hand isn't as good, she's going to have to have plastic surgery, both on her nose, and a cut on her face.I don't believe the car actually rolled either....It may have 'spun' on the nose when the suspension got yanked off, but the roof bars aren't damaged at all... in fact, the car's in fairly good shape in the rear.

It baffles me that people think larger always equals safer...my aunt and uncle recently bought an Equinox with the idea that when my cousin is old enough it will be hers to drive. They were going to get a Vibe or a G6, but my aunt decided she wants the larger SUV because it's safer. I personally think it's going to be too big for her to be comfortable driving when she is a new driver, but I guess we'll find out in about 3 years.Anyway, I hope their recovery continues to go well!

Well, a I suppose a Grand Prix wouldn't be too bad... That's a nice size car and is reasonably safe. Probably would be good if they get side air bags on it or whatever else they end up with.A midsize or larger family car is a good move for a kid, IMHO. I had one ('90 Cutlass Supreme 4-door) when I was in high school, loved it. Everybody else had Transcamarofirestangs or big redneck trucks and stuff. I'm glad they aren't going the SUV route, kudos to them. I definitely wouldn't give a kid one of those things, that's just a wee bit dangerous. First thing that's gonna happen is that they flip that piece of crap. That would probably come way before them ever having any other sort of accident. Setting a kid loose in an SUV when they don't have the experience driving, let alone driving something big/bloated/top heavy is a receipe for disaster. But the parents think they're safer that way! Anyway, I hope that they all continue to recover and that they find a car that everybody will be comfortable with.
