I love the car and have never a big issue, but the clutch must be all the way in to start. It has become increasingly difficult, now the waether is below freezing I have to play it like a kick drum and almost tear a calve mucscle to get it started. Has anyone else seen this, Is it a sign my clutch is going? is there an adjustment? This seems to be only at start up, shifting is not an issue. Any thoughts?
i got one of those self sticking rubber/plastic mounts they use for chair legs or furniture, about 1/4" thick and stuck that on the back of my clutch pedal where it pushes the cable in. that helped a lot. also, getting pedals that mount on top of the originals (got MOMO pedals) added another 1/4" to it. i'm short, so it made a big difference for me.
Welcom to the GT starting family. I laugh as I read your post. I know exactly what you are saying. If the GT was just for me I would be trying to disable that thing but it is my wife's car and I figure it is a good safety feature. I try to mention this to folks when someone else must drive it but have forgotten a couple times and get a call from service guy that car won't start.. "Shove it through the floor", is usually my response. I am sure you will get a good answer to your question here but I just had to chime in.Dan
thank godi thought i was the only one!!! a dealership tried to take money off my trade in value bc of it ( never traded it)if you get under the dash there is a plate that comes off the pedal. that plate is what hits the button for the safety start. what i ws thinking about doing soon is drilling a hole through that plate and putting a bolt with nuts on it so it will extend out. should work and if no one else does it first i will let you know
Thanks folks,I took AKLGT's advise, now it starts easy. At first I was not sure what was going on, and once you crawl under the dash, you can see exactly what is going on. Raivis, I like you idea, but for that much work you are going to have to take the pedal off. Good luck. the Rubber furniture mounts are the quickest and easiest "macgyver solution". Now on to bigger problems, like getting every new person who sits in it to stop playing with the power outlet. Take care all.
