It seems from browsing this forum that the '04 and eariler Vibes had a center storage compartment cover/armrest with the tray in the top, like the Matrix does. Is that true?Since my '05 doesn't have this, I'm thinking about ordering the Matrix top assembly (I have a Toyota part # for it). Does anyone know if the interior colors of the Matrix match those in the Vibe?Thanx

I believe the colours are identical but the part may not work in the Vibe if it was not included in the '05. The top compartment has it's own seperate cover that opens independently of the bottom compartment. All Vibes prior to '05 had the double compartment.
I have an 03 vibe base from canada and the center console lid is the same as the 05 (lid only no drawer)i did a windshield on a 05 matrix on friday and the center console was a little different than mine but the compartment under the shifter was identical but with the updated latch (sould be interchangable with the vibe
Wow I really like the small compartment on top, keep a pen/pencil, calculator and gas mileage/ maintenance noteboke in there. Sure don't know why they would get rid of such a useful item, it can't cost that much to build.

Pretty nice feature... I'll be glad when I can use mine again, the latch is broken so any time I have to raise the armrest, the top cover flops open. Waiting on parts...

Yeah, even though it's a detail feature, I think it will be worth the time and $ to put in the Matrix cover.I'll post an update on my success/failure when I get it, for any other interested '05-ers.

The transplant was a success, Herr Doktor! The Matrix center console cover lid with drawer fit perfectly and matched colors in my 05 Vibe, replacing the simple (cheap-a**) console cover that came with it.Out with the (not so) old....

...and in with the new.For any interested '05-ers (or '03'ers, apparently) it's very simple to do. The Toyota part number for the cover assembly is 58905-02210-B1. It was kinda pricey - around $100. But, if the Vibe cost $100 more and came with it I would've still bought the car. For those with more patience, TRDVibe's suggstion of watching Ebay or maybe slavage yards would yield a better price.

ok got the whole story now my 03 had that two part cover but the people who traded it in took it and swaped it onto the 05 they boughtsneaky buggers!!!!!
Okay... so humor (or humoUr for our Canadian friends) me here for a moment: you went to a Toyota dealership and order the Matrix 2 part console cover, using the aforementioned part number, and it simply screwed right into place on the 05 console? No special tools and the color matched (I'm assuming all the trim is the same in all the Vibes and Matrixes {Matri? Matrices? what's the plural of Matrix?})?Because, I might be getting a new Vibe next week, and I would really like that higher arm rest and extra storage....hjwii
hjwii -I did exactly as you stated. There are 2 philips head screws at the cover hinge (with the cover open). Once those are unscrewed, the cover can be pulled off. The Matrix cover has the same hinge part and can be pushed in, then use the original 2 screws in the same place. (Pull off/push on in an almost "closed" position)The color matched exactly in my vehicle - you can check the photos. Note that I have the Graphite interior - I think the vinyl trim is the same in a Slate interior, but I'm not sure. (Thats a seat cover on the seat bottom in the photo)Perhaps someone can post a GM part # from the '03 or '04 Vibe, but I only have access to a Matrix parts catalog.Cheers,GJ

So you bought an 03 used Vibe that the previous owners swapped parts from to their new 05 purchase? I guess the sales department wasn't to bright in paying attention to the returned condition of the vehicle... oh well. Maybe you can buy some roof racks from a member here who took theirs off?

GMJAP...What was the total of that console cover assembly? Got my new 05, and I would like that extra store as well as the few inches it will provide on the armrest.hjwii

I wonder if they sell just the hinge. Mine's broken, the one between the middle piece and the top cover. Still sort of works, but flops around when open. Not worth $100 for a whole new cover bin though. There's an entire 03 center console on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33695, but it's still not worth the $60 +$26 shipping, just to get the two little plastic piece I need.

I know what I am missing out on and I am so glad to have found this forum topic! I bought a piece of 3" foam and I was going to try and make a top cover for the console so it would be higher. Now I don't have to - I'll gladly spend the $100 to get the real thing! And more storage to boot.It looks like on some of the online sites the console goes for about $60-$70. Check out: http://www.parts.com for some good links to both Pontiac and Toyota parts dealers with good pricing.
I noticed in the picture that it is light grey. Mine is much darker, almost black. Wondering if Toyota has the darker colors?I wanted to order one at the GM parts department, as a replacement part for a 2004 or older, but they couldn't even find the center console on the computer. I'm sure that he could have found it if he cared....

Might have better luck scoping out a junker...The Toyota lids are cheaper, and the colors are the same. It just depends on the lighting and surrounding colors. The plastic trim only comes in one color, for both Matrix and Vibes.A family member with a Vibe has a charcoal (black) leather interior on their Vibe, and the plastic trim looks almost black on their car, whereas I have grayish seat covers and it looks more gray in my Vibe. But, I got them the same Toyota part and it matches the interior in both vehicles cause it's all really the same color.

Hey all. I've been lurking here for quite a while and have had my 06 for about 3 months now. Besides swapping out the whimpy horn, getting the Matrix lid is my first "mod".I called Champion Toyota/Toyota World (713-943-7010 and ordered the one GMJAP listed. $72.38 + $15 shipping. I have the dark interior (leather) and it looks the same color as the Vibe lid.The Vibe lid is ALMOST the same as the top part of the Matrix 2-piece lid. I don't think they're interchangeable though. It also comes with it's own hinge, so I now have a back-up.So, thanks to y'all on the forum for the info. I'm not sure what my next mod will be. I hope GMJAP has another Keyless entry beep module left for me!
I just installed a Toyota Matrix lid and found it brand new fromMechanicsville Toyota Parts Dealer. http://www.toyota-parts-dealer.comBrand new it was $71.60 plus $9.00 for shipping. Installed within minutes and looks and feels great.Nice improvement. Now if I could only get the in-console power outlet. I know people have done them on this site but it would have been nice if GM hadn't cheaped out on this option and just left it on the 2005's and beyond.Mike
