Best CD Player...

Post by BigWill »

What kind do you have? And what kind do you think is the one of the best you have own? I have a Pioneer DEH-8400MP, and I think that it is nice. But after searching for months on a player for the car, I think Pioneer was my best option. (Ecspecially for the money) Who is Next...and if you can post a pic.

I run this Pioneer DEH-P8200R. Got it a couple years ago, has never let me down. Nothing too special, but a solid all-around performer.

Chalk one more up for DEH-8400MP, besides the great sound you also get the cool motorized face and the organic graphic display!

I think Pioneer is going to be declared the winner, if no ones comes along soon. LOL Yeah man, I like the 8400, but the only difference like you said is the motorized face. 7400 has basically the same spec. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pione ... 14,00.html http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pione ... 16,00.html

Ben,Do you have XM Radio on this stereo? If so, can I ask how much the "whole" package was? I'm going to put something in my Vibe, I'm just not sure what. Thanks!

I favor Clarion or JVC, I have always had luck with them and they provide good sound.

When I saw the stock radio in the Vibe I assumed it was a d. din, and had my heart set on a cool Panasonic unit that I almost bought, but from what I've read on this and other forums, I don't think a 2 din will fit. The stock radio is more like a 1 1/2 din size. I've been wrong before though.....Carl

I currently do not have a after market cd player in my Vibe but I have had quite a few in my other cars and I believe that Eclipse makes the best cd players and recievers. They do not have all the flash that otehr cd players have but they make up for it in quality and fuction especially if you are going to hook up an entire sound system

I also have the P8400MP and love it. There is a difference between that and the P7400MP that can make a difference if you add amps. The 8400 has 3 4v outputs while the 7400 has 3 2v outs. That's about the highest from Pioneer and one of the few in the non Premier line. In my last vehicle I used a Premier P1R and loved the unit. Unfortunately, it required amps for all speakers and I wasn't going to that extreme. I think it cost $900 or so retail when it was new.

From what I have gathered, Kenwood makes good decks for the price. Alpine is excellent, Pioneed is great as well, all the rest are below these 3 in terms of quality from what I have heard.Anyways, check out Kenwood, meathead. Http://www.kenwoodusa.com has quite a few at a varied level of prices, the one I am currently looking to get is this one: If you want some info on it: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/produ ... d=2497Lots of cool stuff on the website, check it out! :D

I got myself some infinity reference 625i and they sound great. To tell you the truth the stock speakers were the first thing that I got rid of before getting the radio.

I'll put in a pitch for keeping the stock CD player if your vibe came with one. I have the Moon & tunes package with single CD player. Lately listening to Norah Jones and some older Jazz CDs I had I've been more than enough impressed with the sound to not worry about replacing it. The stock player also integrates nicely with the look of the interior. All the player photos above would stand out glaringly in the dash, but maybe that's what you want. One of my friend drives a large truck with a nice interior. But he's got a sore-thumb bruised looking MP3/CD aftermarket player on the dash and it has ruined the clean look of the dash. Ouch.I'll admit the BASS is weak, and the system could stand a good subwoofer. I may yet add one. And if you LOOK AT the stock speakers you'll surely think they are cheap and should be replaced. Maybe so. But judge with your ears. If it sounds good, then the components are good enough. In my garage (no traffic noise), with the Vibe engine shut off(no engine noise), my seat back reclined, and my eyes shut the music is sweet. The look is clean. I'll keep it.I first was upset that my modern car with a modern CD player couldn't play MP3s, but since the longest city drive to work is only enough for two or three songs, I can easly compose my favorites and burn them to a standard audio CD.KSNeptune

I just bought a Pioneer 550 with steering wheel remote....it was MP3/WMA playback and is XM compatible. 250+ MSRP, 199 through etronics....I like the 8400 Premier but I can't handle spending that much on a radio. 389 at etronics (550 msrp) is more that I wanna spend....my boyfriend has it in his grand am so I get to use it anyway. I like the Organic display but paying another 200 bucks for it was not a good enough reason for me to do it. Besides...I'm saving up for rims. I don't think you can go wrong with a Pioneer...I've heard nothing but good things from them.

Well, although I like the music to be better...I am quite satisfied with my six speaker stock system from GM. It does the job well enough. IF nothing else, it plays all the CD-R's that I create.
