So heres what happened. Our garage door spring broke and, somewhere in the midst of fixing it, a decent size screw fell on the top of my lava '03 Vibe. Somewhere over the course of a week or so, that screw rolled its way back and fell into the body seam between the roof and the rear hatch door such that the head of the screw was sitting out over the seam the screw cylindar was hanging down in the seam. You can see where this is going...Anyway, I went to open the hatch and, after a gut-wrenching sound, the screw had seriously puckered up that small piece of bodywork above the hatch window. I'd like to replace it but, honestly, I don't even know what it's called. Its the piece with the rear washer sprayer sticking out. Fortunately, the roof is fine (a little paint off the underneath but nothing visible).Any idea as to the name? Where I can get one? How much one should cost? Thanks,Brett
Welcome to Genvibe! Is it damaged beyond what a body shop could reasonably fix?I don't know the technical term for that piece & I did a quick scan thru this thread http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9923but didn't find anything. Maybe RagingFish could help you out with the part number?BTW, what kind of Vibe do you have?
I'm thinking the part is beyond repair. I'll try to post a picture (maybe tomorrow) if for no other reason than, really, it's kind of funny. I didn't think so at the time but, of all things to go wrong...it's a screw from a busted garage door. Yeah, there's a nice 3/16" diameter semicircle "pressed" into the edge of the panel. That part is pushed up and the surrounding panel curves down and then up. If it were just curveture, it could probable be fixed...not sure about the gouge in the metal.I checked out the parts list and couldn't find anything yet. It's a 2003 Base model, auto, 37K, mono, lava, moon/tunes.
Alot can be done with bond-o hahaIf there's a Pontiac dealer close you could run by there and see how much the part would be. OEM stuff is usually expensive. So just for giggles I'd go by a bodyshop to compare.
