Got a mailing from GM today - offer of $500 or $1,000 GM Card bonus earnings if I took delivery of a "selected" new 2006 or 2007 GM vehicle by March 15, 2007.$1,000 on various Chevy trucks and SUV's; Buick Rainier and Lucerne, GMC's, Hummers and Cadillacs. No $1,000 offers on Pontiacs. $500 on G5, G6, GTO, Grand Prix, SV6 and Torrent. No wonder Vibe sales are in the tank.No Saturn vehicles at all - no deal on the Chevy HHR (or Corvette ).The good news is that I got my GM Card statement today and I am up to $1,212 in earnings. Hopefully this will be over $3,200 by the time I am in the market for a 2011.

These are all their higher priced models, and I don't think the Vibe or the other missing names fit that level. Besides, the Vibe sells itself, which is why there are no rebates or ads. I don't care that fewer sell, except that if it falls enough they may discontinue it. Scarcity should hold up the resale price; I notice many more Matrix on the road. The Vibe is a good looking, dependable, high MPG, and flexible car at a reasonable price. Just what I need, and I expect many others feel the same. Until recently they had little competition in this class. Things have changed and there are many choices for this type of vehicle now. GM will have to change their marketing or lose out.

There is a $500 GM Card bonus on Chevy Cobalt, Colorado truck, Pontiac G5 and GMC Canyon truck - all with lower MSRP's than Vibe. The sale numbers do not show that the Vibe is selling itself. I don't know how Vibe sales compare to the Matrix.

You can always used what YOU have accumulated - this 2007 "bonus" promotion for a limited time period adds $500 or $1,000 to whatever you have accumulated. In January 2003 GM made offers to "selected" GM Cardholders upping the GM Card rebate from whatever they had to $2,003. It was good on almost every GM product. At the time I had about a $585 accumulated GM Rebate so that amounted to a $1,515 extra bonus for me when I bought my 2003 Vibe. Also - at that time there was a regular $2,000 rebate so the total rebate was $4,003. Adding in ther dealer discount I got over $5,000 off MSRP. We may never see that deal again!I think GM had a similar offer last January 2006. I can't remember the details.

We got to use ours when we got Frosty, but we only had $220 in GM Card earnings. I didn't know about the factory rebates on the Pontiac website, and the dealer of course, did not tell us of it. I learned to watched the rebate section on the website carefully. The rebate offers were "offer good until...(specific date)" Vibe: $500 off. When that offer expired, another one would start. When I finally took delivery, I had that page printed out-rebate was $1,000, but didn't really count because the dealer (Cutter Pontiac/Buick/GMC/Mazda) raised the price on me almost a grand... Hopefully excluding the Vibe from rebates is not a permanent decision.
