Zuben is running another marathon for Alzheimer's Association...

Post by ZubenElGenubi »

Hi Fellow GenVibers:I am once again asking for your help in raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association by running in the 2007 Chevron Houston Marathon on Sunday, January 14. Below is a link to my online donations page. Please take a few moments to read it and perhaps make a contribution. This year I'm offering several options for you to choose the type and use of your donation. Last year you all helped raise over $1,000!My training went very well over the summer and just last weekend I ran in the San Antonio marathon (Nov. 12). Unfortunately, I got a shin splint for my efforts! Still, the doc says if I'm patient and stay off the foot for a week, there's a very good chance I'll be able to run the marathon in January.I'll post regular updates on my donations page, so bookmark it and check back regularly. With Thanks!-GlennMy Donations Page:http://www.active.com/donate/a...Ray11The Houston Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association:http://www.alztex.org/Chevron Houston Marathon:http://www.houstonmarathon.com

Good luck!walking around on your heels (around the house, in the shower, etc.) really helps with shin splints...(raise your toes up!) i've had them bad on both legs about 10 years ago and i was told that trick by an ex-Australian olympic basketball player!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

Soaking in epsom salts is really helping a lot, too.

Hey folks...The marathon is THIS SUNDAY and I'm about as ready as I can be. Fortunately, the shin splint has nearly completely healed. All I can hope now is that the weather stabilizes some (predicting a cold front sometime this weekend, but don't know exactly when). Rain or shine, I'm in it.We're halfway to the goal of $2,000 (not including matching contributions), so I'm hoping that you'll help us make it all the way. Please check out my donations page in my first post for more information. Thanks again!-Glenn

I wish you all the best for your efforts. My favorite Uncle is nearing the end stage of his battle with Alzheimers, and he is not much more than a shell of his former self.It is absolutely devastating for all parties involved. Those who give of themselves so unselfishly are very special and unfortunately sometimes rare, and should be revered. We all should support and thank them in any way we can.Even though we have never met, Thank You.Larry

Well, I finished my 3rd Houston Marathon with a personal best of 4:31:59. Missed my goal of 4:30, but still pretty happy with the results. We've raised nearly $1,900 (incl. matching contributions from my employer) for the Alzheimer's Association. If you were thinking about donating, but wanted to see if I could actually finish this first...I did it. I'll be accepting donations through January 31st. See the links in my first post. Thanks for your support!!
