First off, i'm brand new to this site; second, i just bought my Lava GT 4 days ago. It got sent out to get my moonroof installed today. The dealership couldn't find what i wanted, so they are installing a moonroof for FREE!!!!! I plan on doing as many mods as possible. So far, i already took off my lateral bars off my roof rack, through the help i found on this siteand also bought a strut tower bar. Thanks you the site, and you'll probably hear alot more from me.
Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum! It's great to see yet another excited member join our community. Be sure to get some pics when you can and show off your Vibe here or in the Genvibe registry.

It cost $800.00; it is a Slaser 700, suppose to be the very top of the line. It's alot better than the factory one. The installer told me, it is more of a BMW or Mercedes moonroof. So, yeah i got very lucky. Also thanks for the welcome.
I hate to be a spoil sport, but I am a skeptic. Was the moonroof "free" or was it part of the "discount" they gave you on the car. For example, GM will give you 0% financing, or a $2,000 rebate. I don't think they can call it FREE financing because it really isn't free - it cost you $2,000.

It depends on how you look at that one. If you have all the money to buy the car up front, then the 0% financing option nets you a loss of $2000. However, if you are like most of us, we need to finance at least part of the car in order to buy it. I had to finance about half of the cost of the car. I could have probably paid the full cost up front, but would have had to give up a lot of other things. 0% financing means they are lending you the money for free. That is like your rich uncle reaching in his pocket and handing you $20,000 cash and saying "here, just pay me back a little each month". It is smart economics to take up ANY institution that will lend you money for free. You can take that money, put it in a bank or investment, and make money off of somebody else's money without having to give them anything for it. The benefit is fully yours. So the money that I kept of my own by financing part of the car can be put in a bank or investment to help pay for part of the car. That means that I am paying even LESS for the car if I use the interest earned toward paying off the car. It doesn't cost me anything to earn that interest, so it is just another benefit to me. Also, I financed my car for 5 years at 0% interest. GM would have had to offer almost $4,200 rebate to equal the value of 0% interest on the amount I financed over 5 years. So in reality, it was like getting a $2200 rebate in ADDITION to the 0% financing. Not a bad deal from any way you look at it.

Stang2Vibe - The 0% financing is not free - you gave up a $2,000 rebate to get it. I'd like to see your math showing a $4,200 savings. You say you financed half the price for 5 years in lieu of the $2,000 rebate. Assuming you could have qualified for a 5% APR 5 yr auto loan, your 5 year interest cost on $10,000 would have been approximately $1,250. I bet you would have qualified as GM has tough qualifiation rules for their 0% financing. Of course a $750 diff over 60 months is only $12.50/month so a lot of people don't even notice or care.
