audio?

Post by coldmm803 »

i just got a creative zen mp3 player and want to be able to use it in my vibe. i did some searching and see that i can use an aux converter or get a new HU.i'm leaning more towards the new HU with an aux on it. i know absolutly nothing about audio parts so what do i need to know. i'll most likely buy thru crutchfield. i have an 05 with M&T.having gone thru some threads i see this mounting bracket, will the HU come with that? and what about harnesses?thanks in advance

crutchfield gives you the wiring harness, the antenna adapters, and the dash kit. if you get a unit from them, you shouldn't need anything else.

Since you have M&T, you have the factory amp, which complicates it a little bit. Be sure Crutchfield understands this if you order from them. You may need a line level converter between the new head unit and the factory amp to get rid of noise that often occurs hooking up an aftermarket HU to the factory amp. Search on "line level" in message bodies and you should find a lot on it.It's not recommend to chuck the factory amp, as the factory speakers for the M&Ts are 2 Ohm, and aftermarket HU are not made to drive anything less than 4 Ohms.

The LED is just for show. There is no difference between the head units with or without M&T, and they don't have theftlock. If you had factory XM I've heard it might be a problem, but I've removed both a stock 6CD and several 1CDs and never had lock issue.

i installed the PIE GM12-AUXV2 today and it was pretty easy to do and is workin great. as others have stated in various threads, you do need to turn up the volume more but theres plenty of sound to pump out with the M&T package. i have no hiss. i have to use the band button to switch to the aux for it. i routed my RCA to headphone cable down into the bottom storage compartment.
