I think its good people are trying to find bugs and theres someone who will make patches. Its the same with linux/unix. Thats why its so secure, and os X being based on BSD this I think is going to help as long as Apple takes it as a good thing and makes patches quick.

While people may be starting to hack alternate platforms... If things on a Mac or Linux box ever escalate to the point where the Windows world is now, I think I'll just cut my losses, go to a garage sale and snag a Commodore 64. Our company got nailed today with apparently a new variant of a 2+ year old virus. Of course it spread throughout the corporate headquarters and the remote sites scattered about... Only a couple hundred infected and the guys over on that side of IT couldn't find the fix. That ain't cool...Fortunately for those of us who don't do windows, we're still fairly safe but never at the point where we shouldn't be concerned about this crap. People are going to bring any OS down they can get their hands on, whether popular or not. So, Apple and the various *nix folks need to stay on top of the issues present and find a way to patch 'em quick. I have no doubts the Linux guys will do fine there, thanks to so many being involved with development, things get fixed pretty quick. I'll be the first to admit I've applied far more patches to these Linux boxes over the years than I ever did with Windows, but that's definitely not a sign of weakness. Without a large commercial entity being involved, things get fixed when they need to be fixed, not whenever a company feels like writing an update.I've found Apple does a good job at sending us updates as well, although not in the frequency in which you see on Linux. I'm sure Apple will be capable of keeping up as the threat increases.However, until corporate america decides to switch platforms, we'll still have safer operating systems. If not for actual security, for the lack of systems out there. You can do a lot more damage by exploiting flaws in the majority OS, if they decided to hack the minority it's only a blip on the radar screen so what's the point? lol!
