Quick Question about factory HU (urgent)

Post by shane_c »

I'm looking to sell my factory headunit and there is only a few hours left on it on ebay. Someone is wondering if it has some sort of theftlock. Also, will it fit in other GM's? What year Vibe's is it compatible with?

No there is no theftlock in the Vibe radios. It -might- fit in other GMs. The Vibe has a double-din wide radio, so the height is the same as a standard double-din but I think the radio is wider than usual. I may be wrong. As for compatibility, i've no idea. It probably won't work with other GM cars built from 2003+, just because those cars all use GM's DataBus, whereas the Vibe does not. The radio simply won't turn on in those cars even if it plugs in.

And you got it backwards on compatability. it will work on allcars, but the radio's from 2003 and up GM won't work on the vibe.

Non databus radios will not work in databus cars unless you have a special adapter or wire an ACC line.I suppose you're right on the size, I was under the impression that the width of the radio hole in the Vibe is slightly wider than DD.

well, you can always ad acc wire. but you can't add databus to a non data bus radio.that's my thinking anyways.. The newer trix is the one with the wider HU

As Jahntassa said -- nonDB radios will NOT work in DB-based vehicles.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
