Freggin HID light doesnt work!!!

So had a loooong day today, get in my car and turn my lights one... Well one of my headlights was out??? I was like (removed)....Well i think the hid controller/metal box thing isnt working. I dont know what happened... i bought new fuses cuz the olds ones were OLD.Anyone have any ideas?

I've had HIDs "misfire" before. Usually if I turned it off, waited about 30 seconds, and restarted it, all was well.If that doesn't work, try swapping ballasts. If the bulb that was out works with the other ballast, and the ballast that you thought was out does not work with the other bulb, then your ballast is the issue. There are so many points in the system that can fail, you really can't pin it down to one thing without some troubleshooting.

it might be the ballast... cuz when i put in new fuses, the one that worked still worked. and when i put the fuse in the other one with the lights on, the bulb flickers and the ballast makes a duh-da-duh-duh-duh sound (best way to explain )So i think its teh ballast... ima try and swap them and see if its the ballast or the bulb for sure. Man this sucks!anyone know how/where to get a new one?I will try this so called search button too, just wanna get it done asap!Thanks for the help

I had the same symptoms with my 4 sets of HID lights. It turned out to be the relays in the direct battery wiring harnesses. I had a total of 7 out of 8 eventually go bad. I replaced them numerous times only to have them go out a few months later. I eventually got fed up with it all and made a jumper in place of the relay. They've been lighting strong ever since with out any flickering or delay in firing.

thanks... i think its the ballast, but im gonna look at everything tonight and see whats the cause... just found out A SINGLE ballast is $124, FOR a piece of metal... argh!I may be goin back to stock for a while now! gotta get my clutch first

Well crap-o-la its one of my HID bulbs thats out... i swapped my ballasts and sure enough the light still doesnt work.So gotta order me some new HIDs

I've had two sets of HIDs go out on me. Oddly, always on the driver side. It may have been the relay that killed the first ballast, but the second time the bulb actually exploded itself.Back on silverstars for me..

did you check the relay? or swap bulbs? to be 100% sure?The reason why i'm so persistant on the relay theory is because I made the mistake last year of mis diagnosing my same problem and wasted $160 for new bulbs when all I needed to do was replace a $6 relay.

ill double check that tonight aswell to make sure its not the bulb.thanks for the help.My fiance would ***** a chicken if i get something thats not wrong!she already wants me to go back to stock, which is time consuming to do! so hopefully i can get this fixed QUICk and CHEAP

While I've never had any issues with any of my HID systems, I think mase is onto something. HID capsules are pretty reliable, and have a VERY long operating life. It should not have died yet. And even when they DO die, they don't "die." They just get dimmer and dimmer, yellower and yellower. They rarely go entirely dark. So it's likely a relay, ballast, or ignitor. Did your kit have any sort of manufacturer warranty? If so, and you're still within it, definitely try to get the issue resolved using it.

got this off of Spyder who traded his in for a speed3 wagon.it was in good condition and worked perfectly fine untill 2 days ago, i swapped the ballasts and they are working fine.Might be the igniter, but dont know how to test it or how replacible it is.ima look more into the system tonight or tomorrow, gonna put my stockers in for now

Easiest way to test is to swap components one by one with the working side until you find the faulty component.Take the known good ballast, and swap it with the known bad one. See if the bad one lights the good one, and the good ballast lights the dead one. Then do the same with ignitors. Then the bulbs. If all that yields nothing, then try swapping the two relays. If after that you STILL have issues, then wiring might be your culprit...Check your ground points. Make sure no corrosion developed that could be inhibiting the flow of power. Do the same for your positive lines. I had that problem with my hellas...they just died one day...after doing intense and comprehensive system analysis (i.e. jiggling the wires ), i realized that corrosion was keeping my +12 line from making a good connection. Fixed the problem, did a BETTER job weatherproofing the connection, and all was well from that day forward!

And I'm sure you're like me, and you feel that all that work is TOTALLY worth having them back, eh? I'd recommend checking 2/3/4 before the lights. As I mentioned earlier, they really have the lowest probability of being at fault.

Boy i checked everything... EVERYTHING i could see/think of, and still the headlight wouldnt work, but work perfect with the "good" hid light... so im really hoping that it is the head light.... only because im ordering new ones, and if they dont work im gonna poop a monkey!!!!So new headlights- $80new clutch and install- $300+fixing the check engine light that came on- $xxxHaving a pimped out vibe.... Priceless!

I dunno man, a check engine light is pretty pimpariffic! 9 out of 10 pimped out ricemobiles will be cruisin' around with a check engine light on, if you don't belive me, just go for a ride and glance over as you pass them. Check engine lights are cool, as is the black soot all over the body kit in the back from the exhaust probably as a result from whatever made the check engine light come on. That stuff is cool just like the spoilers, so I don't blame mrizzle for wanting to put HID's or do other things to the car instead of fixing the light... All the cool kids are doin' the check engine light mod, so it'd be stupid to fix that! lolmrizzle, your car having stuff blowing up left and right, is it REALLY trying to be like damronjr's car now?

It's detecting that there is no output from one of your HID blubs! That's $0.02 in whatever currency that currently has the worst exchange rate with our dollar. lol! Wish I knew what it could be, other than the engine is just getting too much air... Install a more restrictive intake. lol!And I know you're not rice, but really, who of us wouldn't want to be? It's like a dream we all wish we could live!
