Post by joey116 »

I would like to add the Interior mirror with built in map light, is there wiring already above the roof liner to connect it to ? if not where would the wiring run to ?Thanks

I don't know the answer to that question but I just bought a Vibe map lite mirror on ebay. I gave 9.99 for it and some shipping I think. CAME TO ABOUT 20 BUX. Going to install it in our motorhome.

Since you don't have a sunroof, there probably isn't any wiring in the headliner that you can get to. I recently installed a auto dimming mirror in my Vibe and I ran the wire across the front edge of the headliner to the A Pillar(the plastic trim pulls off easily), then down the pillar and through the dash. You can then tap into the fuse panel under the dash or go through the firewall and use the fuse panel in the engine compartment. I chose to go through the firewall with the wires. If you follow the hood release cable, you can fit the wires through the grommet it runs through. I used the strut tower for ground(look for existing ground wire and tap in) and tapped the headlight fuse for switched power. there is a ton of room in the headliner and Pillar to stuff the wire. Good Luck with it.

Yes, that is the way to do it. I always mount map lite mirrors in all of my vehicles that don't come with them. There is always room to stick a couple small wires under the front of the headliner and run down the post.

When you did this, did you drop the headliner to look for wires, or did you assume that there would be none? Sometimes it's cheaper for the factory to run wires for uninstalled options than to have to manage many different wiring harnesses. I don't know if the wires are there or not, but it would be worth checking.I have the moon&tunes, and I hacked into the wires going to the sunroof control to pick up 12V to add a lighted mirror. THe mirror map lights are a lot nicer than the glare in your face map light that comes with the M&T .

But others quickly discovered that if you didn't order the options - even in the trim level they were offered in - the wiring didn't exist.BOOOO!

I did not drop the headliner, I was afraid I would crease or tear it. you're probably right about the wiring being run during assembly. I wasn't willing to risk damaging it to find out. If anyone has their headliner out, let us know whats up there.
