I want to install a wired FM Modulator for my Sirius Starmate Replay. I know new HU or hardwire may be better quality, but friends car with one sounds great to me. After reading forums on here, I was confident it was a relatively easy job. I got trim off and stereo out enough to see the wiring. It looks like the factory antenna wire (lone wire on right of stereo as you look at it? Right?) has a thinner plug than the modulator's plug. Do I need some kind of adaptor for the antenna wire? How does the antenna wire come out, pull or unscrew? Based on the diagram that came from Sirius (its their modulator) looks like the factory antenna wire plugs in to the mod. box and then the mod plug should go in to the radio......if I need an adaptor where can I find one? Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Also, noted on past topics that the flashing red light on radio is worthless and my stereo wont freeze up if I disconnect harnesses for better access? Thanks in advance.

GM uses a different style antenna adapter then the "standard." Quote »Do I need some kind of adaptor for the antenna wire? You need two actually. You need metra part numbers 40-GM10 and 40-GM20. You can get them at any best buy, circuit city, etc.Quote »How does the antenna wire come out, pull or unscrew?Pull.Quote »Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Got it installed; sounds great and everything still seems to work! Thanks for the advise and pix (from removing the floor console- helped me with the radio trim cover). Thanks!

The great thing about the Sirius modulator thingy is that it's thirty bucks and doesn't require any wiring other than unplugging the antenna from the back of the radio, plugging it into this thing, and then connecting its output back to the radio. For what it is, it works great. I'm really happy with mine.
