I like my Vibe, but with the familly growing, the Vibe cargo space starts not being big enough.1st thing for my choice: I DON'T WANT A MINIVAN.So I'm looking for a SUV, a big SUV.Since my last experience with the GM sevice, I do not want a GM anymore (even if they have the biggest choices in this kind of model)So what option left ot me?I foundFord ExpeditionDodge DurangoNissan Pathfinder ArmadaToyota SequoiaThe Nissan and Toyota are a bit expensive, and very hard to find on the used market. The Durango is based on the Dodge Dakota, an small pick-up truck, so I doubt the space meet my needs.Any other opinion on what I can get?
i don't care for it much, but the kia sorento is very affordable. you also get a lot for what you pay. the 2-tones do look alright though. it's not huge, but there is more than enough room for a family.

I borrow the Civic from a friend to teach my GF to drive. My Vibe has a manual tranny, and learning on a stick shift is not the easiest way. I had the Civic for about 3 weeks, then he get back the Vibe. This time I'm 100% serious. With 2 kids (5 and 1 year old), 2 dogs (a boxer and a mix schnauzer/lassa apso), travelling is becoming hard.My relatives and my GF relative are living 125 miles away (in opposite direction). It is almost impossible to carry, my GF, the child, dogs, luggages and myself in the Vibe trunk. Only with the boxer the trunk is full.
yeah, at some point in that thread I realized you were joking, and I figured you were serious this time. It was just depressing to think of you selling the vibe, so I tried to make a joke out of it.I had a dodge minivan before the vibe, and it lasted 400000kms, but it was a minivan. Those pacificas are still minivans, but they look better than the one I had.You may have had problems with GM service on your Vibe, but if GM offers the 100K mile warranty up there, that would be something worth having. Wish I'd had that on my vibe.Good luck, let us know what you decide to buy
my friend has an Expedition with just over 500,000 km on it (?!?!) and it runs great. He uses it for work and family. It has the 3rd row seating and can carry a bunch of stuff in the back (as we've done to bring stuff to his cottage).he has the big V8 (5.4L?) and the towing package for heavy loads. He's had to repair a few things but nothing major and in the end he's still driving it today!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
I understand the minivan aversion, but seriously consider how often you will use the 3rd row seat. I have 4 kids so we need the 3rd row all the time. When they were small we had a Toyota Previa minivan. We saved up 3500 points on a GM card figuring we'd probably replace the van with a Suburban when they got bigger. Well guess what, the 3rd row seat access in SUVs is terrible. So we got another minivan - and I used my GM card points to buy the Vibe.

I have 2 kids and probably a 3rd one will come in a near future. Most of minivans have the 2-2-3 config. So with 3 child, you must use the 3rd row and this take most of the cargo area. That's why I'm looking more on a big SUV, with 3 real places on the 2nd row. You can be 5 people and have all the luggage for everone, all inside the vehicule.I also thought about a 4 doors pick-up truck, but there is less space at the back. And I cannot travel with 2 dogs in the box, even with a fiberglass box, and even less in winter. I was looking for a Suburban (and if I had the $$$, the ultimate machine, a Cadillac Escalate ESV) but with my last bad experience with GM, I'm not really entousiam to got back there to buy a truck.More I thing about this, more I see an Expedition in my driveway. And BTW, I'm not going to buy this new. I'm looking for something like a 2002-2004.

SUV...Stupid Unnecessary Vehicle,Will you really be happy getting 1/3 the gas mileage you are now?How about a v6 Magnum? It looks cool and at least you don't have to give up good handling and car comfort.
Definately stay away from the Durango!!! I do not know one person who has been, or would be, a repeat buyer. A buddy of mine bought one because he hated his explorer and 3 transmissions in 3 years later he dumped it and bought a certified used Tahoe.

As for the handling, I agree, it is terrible in a SUV. But for the comfort, most of SUV's have by far better comfort then cars.I also took care to calculate the fuel comsumption and the extra licence plate fees while buying this type of vehicule, and for me, it worth it.

But they are so rare on the used market.I tought about the new Ford Freestyle, but its configuration is 2-2-3, and I absolutly want to have 3 places in the 2nd row... Too bad, it was looking like the best compromise.
I know you said no GM, but the GMC Acadia and/or Saturn Outlook (do they even sell saturn up there?) are far better handling than SUV's, and have lots of cargo room. I checked out an outlook the other day, one could easily pack a lot in there! Gets decent fuel economy too...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

But the Outlook looks great.I never though about this vehicule... I know it is a GM, but I don't know why, Saturn does not sound very GM in my mind. Also, I may have forgotten to tell I'm looking for something used, around 15-20k Candian, (13-17k US)
