Need to Replace Lugnuts

Post by michaelgt »

I had my leaking tire fixed today, and they showed me that the lugnuts have water sepage and are growing (corrosion). They needed to pound the socket onto the lugnuts. Has anybody else had this problem? They indicated that I would need to go to the dealer to get new lug nuts, as there was not after market lug nuts.

Same thing happened to me. Not sure if it's too late, but at the GM dealership in Canada they wanted $9.20 per lugnut. At Toyota, the same chrome capped lugnuts were $4.20, so I got them there. GM dealership was not prepared to match the price and had no explanation why it was double the price. Since then I have been getting all my replacement parts at Toyota.

your paying for some GM rep to drive around in a fancy cadi making the big bucks while the compay drops deeper into the red.

Even $4.20 for a lugnut is absurd. $1.00 would be more appropriate but still over priced. Don't replace your lugnuts, just clean them up with a wire brush and some oil.
