Romantic Vacation Location?

Post by PHXLavaVibe »

My wife and I are thinking of taking a week long vacation for our 3rd anniversary and I don't know where to go. My thought on this is that we should rent a Log Cabin somewere beautiful and remote. The Idea is that we will be surrounded by thick forest with a light coat of snow in the trees and on the ground. Does anyone know of a place like this? Our Aniversary is on October 9th. Please help!

Montrose, CO is nice, within a days drive of Phoenix, and not as expensive as nearby Telluride (about an hour away). You should be able to enjoy the weather, and if you feel up to it, ski or play in the snow in the surrounding areas. I'll be heading there a day or two after Christmas and will try to post some pics then if you want. You might also try New Mexico. I have family in quaint little Cloudcroft, NM (little south and east of Las Cruces). It sits at 9000 ft in the pines in a small town with plenty to do. My sister in law brokers cabin rentals in the area. If you are interested I can give you her contact information.I also hear that Santa Fe is nice that time of year too...although I'm not sure you'll have snow anywhere you go within driving distance in October...

I've done some camping in CloudCroft, NM. I used to live in El Paso, TX, when my dad was stationed in Ft. Bliss. My scout troop went there every so often to go camping. VERY Beautiful.

Gatlinburg, TN and the outlying area with towns like Cosby, TN has a lot of cabins in the woods in the mountains that are very pretty and nice, and if you decide you want to go out for a romantic dinner there are also a lot of restaurant options in town in Gatlinburg. That would require either a long road trip or a plane flight, but it seems like it might be exactly what you're looking for.

You don't say if you're looking for any particular area(s). Minnesota is a ways, but the North Shore is highly recommended. Here's where I took the GF for her 30th, and we hope to return again soon: http://www.bluefinbay.com/ It's right on Lake Superior.

yes, it's called ALASKA. i might suggest Tahoe since it's closer, but don't know if they would have snow (if you must have it) then. actually, we usually don't even have snow in Oct. Try Canada like in Banf as others have suggested.

If you decide not to do the whole log-cabin thing, Martha's Vineyard and/or Nantucket Island in MA are both very serene, quiet, romantic locations.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Originaly I was thinking about somewhere near Colorado Springs.Alaska would be awesome, but the cost of getting there would be high. I would love to be able to drive to what ever location we choose.
