The vibe officially went into winter mode this week

Post by maxt »

Finally got my snow tires mounted this week. Tires are Pirelli snow carving off the tire rack, 195/65/16 I believe. Wheels are VW Avus...Same bolt pattern and offset as the vibe, so why not get some style for winter Anyone else switch over to winter mode yet?

um, VW, huh? interesting still debating here as to what to do for winter... trying to figure out if snow tires are worth it with all the driving i do. but we only have snow for 4 or 5 months.*although, as i'm writing this, the snow has started to gust in waves outside to almost white-out conditions, lol. gotta love the first big snow, closes everything til we all adjust and remember that we travel in the snowbelt of ohio!

We're in 'winter mode' due to the temp, but have never used snow tires in my life...

Ha, I installed a new shift knob so I was testing it out and it just happened to start snowing/freezing raining while I was at my dad's....I havent taken my rims or my hood off yet so by the time I made it home the car was totally covered in nasty road salt I almost had a coronary...Needless to say, now with all that salt on the roads, the rims will be coming off this weekend and the Vibe will be tucked into the garage all nice and cozy until March or April Your's still looks sexy even though it's winterized lol

Winter sux! Haven't gotten the snow tires on yet, but replaced the CF hood with the stock one. Doesn't look like my car anymore. But, at least now it will be easier to paint the cf hood.

We don't get snow, but do the 195/65/16s ride smoother than the 205/55/16s? Anything to get rid of the stock harsh ride.

I'm running Michelin Artic Alpin's 195/65/15 on Steelie Wheels for the winter. There is a significant difference in ride with the 15" tires vs the 16" stock RSA's. The ride is much smoother. Some people though prefer the better handling characteristics that a 17 (or even 18) inch tire gives them.
