I just saw an announcement for Ford Fusion AWD. I wish this had been around when I was in the market for a new car. I love my Vibe but I think I would really dig the Fusion AWD. Any thoughts on this Fusion?Mike

I love my Vibe but I think I would really dig the Fusion AWD. Any thoughts on this Fusion?MikeWell, frankly, the fact that it's a Ford is in itself enough to keep me from ever looking twice. With their 2007+ lineup, at this time, looking VERY pathetic, I'd be concerned that Ford is gonna have to start cutting even more corners to make ends meet -- and that would personally make me question the quality of the car you'd be basically entrusting your life to...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
its a mazda 6 with awd and a 2.3L I-4 (mazda engine) or a 3.5L v6 duratec, both are awesome engines. i love the fusion and i hope the rumors are right that a 2 door version will be out I hear the Mercury Milan (same car) has better suspension though
I like their approach of the chunk of plastic bolted to the floor to improve things in a crash as opposed to figuring out how to redesign the floor pan or various other structures to lessen the chance of injury in an accident... http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=631Whether that chunk of plastic is a benefit or not, that would fricken get on my last nerve having it there! Aside from that and the factory craptezza lights in the back, I guess it's OK for a Ford... I'd never buy one... It does have more appeal than anything else they have in the lineup though, this seems to be the only "modern" ride they've got at the moment. But what else is there, a "should have been at the end of its lifecycle years ago" Focus to the Five Hundred, which was looking old the second it hit the lot. Does Ford sell any other cars, or are the rest just SUV's? I forgot the Mustang I guess, and the Crown Vic as it breathes its last breaths. Fusion all the way for the Ford lineup, I must say! I'd still never buy one.

Opps yea its a 3.0 now but there 3.5 which is supposed to be out...or soon should be in it...DOOH i cant belive i missed that. I had the 3.0 in my sable, then mazda 6 came out and they added variable valve timing and new heads so it had 20 more hp and better mileage. sorry its been a long week and its only tuesday
The 3.5 is supposed to become the standard engine on the 500, Freestyle and Edge. Optional on the Fusion. The 3.0 needs to be taken out back shot till it doesn't move. AFA = Amarican Families Assosiation.
Dude, you could have just said Fords suck! Now someone like me has to ask, why are you not allowed to drive a Ford? I'm not aware of this boycott, do tell!

Yikes!Good call Millster - that could turn ugly fast.Back on topic. Here's what I want to know. Why is GM trailing - significantly - in bringing AWD options to market? There's hardly any out there! They should have AWD options in cars such as the Malibu, G6, AURA, LaCrosse, Lucerne, etc.Hell, if Ford can do it a la Fusion, there's no excuse for GM to not have some offerings out there...

AWD was one of the main features I was looking at when I was shopping for a new car a couple years ago. I really would have liked a Subaru but being in Detroit and having a father-in-law in the UAW I wanted to stick with something American (or at least American branded). Therefore, there wasn't much to choose from. I always liked the Vibe styling and have enjoyed it so far. Mike

Ford even has an AWD Five Hundred, don't they? Or at least I thought i heard about them. Well, for AWD cars from a domestic, methinks Ford has the other two beat...

I would think with the price of fuel, the Caliber with AWD would be the only way to go...Nope, I have no clue about them, actually. I only know they exist. There are a lot of them around here. I forgot about the Charger though. I have seen quite a few of the AWD Ford 500s too. Not a lot of the Fusions at all, yet.
GM is not going to make the same mistake it did 20 years ago and fallow the trend on Ford, and Chrysler. This time they are going the Toyota, Honda, Nissan way. NO AWD FO YOU!!! lolThey are however releasing some unibody midsize SUV's this and next year. wait, Ford and Chrysler did that already... hmm.. lol
[QUOTE=silverawd26]gett A Plan from Ford or a discount since you work at the hospital. And they do now come with a 5/60,000 warranty so that would take care of it for a couple of years. He Silver,How did you know I work at the hospital? Not that I care, but I don't remember posting it (at least in recent memory). I could get the A Plan through my father in law but since the Vibe is only 2 years old, my wife wouldn't go for me getting a new car already. If it was a lease, I would be all over the Fusion but since I'm buying; I can't do it.Anyway, I still really love my Vibe and look forward to hopefully years of trouble free use.Mike

Very good memory! 7 years as a pharmacist at St. John. Got my BS in Biology and Chemistry and CMU and then went to pharmacy school At WSU. Of course, I missed the brand new pharmacy building they built on the med school campus but I believe I got a good education nonetheless.Keep up the studies, it will pay off in the end.Mike
