Hey guys,I just recently remodded the Vibe. I installed the Cosmo Racing CAI on the Vibe and ever since then, I noticed significant difference in gas mileage lower than with no intake on the car. I used to have an Injen CAI on mine, I sold it (bad decision) and I got sick of having no get up and go (not that it has a lot now) but I can't figure it out. I went to Murray's to find a PCV valve for the Vibe, they don't carry it. Does anyone know of any auto parts stores where maybe I can get the PCV valve? Btw, my Vibe has about 52k miles on it. So it's been driven quite a bit. I just can't figure it out. My Injen used to get me at least 26-27 mpg easily when I used to beat the livin **** out of the motor. Now with this intake, I'm gettin like 22-23 mpg. When I did baby my old intake, I got low to mid 30's. With this one, I barely got 29 mpg. Is there somethin I did wrong with the install or what? I'm totally confused if I did or not. But, it's not hard to do an intake on the Vibe, I've done many of them. Well, let me know what your guys' feedback on this matter is and thanks in advance.Inder

who the hell are you? i thought your moms was driving the vibe these days or something...keep in mind, the cooler weather decreases gas mileage as well. perhaps you need to clean your fuel system?

You know about Project Sentra. I'm in the process of saving up for a turbo for it. So it will most prolly be turboed this coming spring. Cross my fingers . So I've been driving the Vibe lately. And the main reason I did it was for the MPG.

As you know, many factors may play on the gas mileage. I doubt you installed it wrong but did you try resetting the ECU? I ran into lower mileage last Fall after replacing my tires, PCV and Sparks. I took it as "cold weather effects". had my first mpg under 20 in the coldest part of the Winter. When Spring rolled around, I was really hoping for a major improvement. I dind't see it at all. Used to get 33-34 on the highway average in the 2 previous warm weather driving seasons. This Summer, I was lucky to get over 30. On average maybe 28-30 at best now. Your Vibe has a few less miles than mine. I'm sitting at 81,000 now. I'm going to replace the tires in the Summer, replace the Sparks in the Spring and will replace my Catalytic converter next week. If the Cat doesn't help improve my mileage issue for this Winter, I really hope the plugs or tires do next Summer.As for the tires, I got wider ties this time. Went from 235-45 up to 245-45. I'm sure it gave me a bit more rolling resistance but who really knows.Dave
Kept the rpm's below 3400 (75 mph or so), Didn't baby the starts though. Usually got that going through the mountains on I-40 and while in Myrtle Beach. Would visit there 2 or 3 times a year. best mileage was a 36 mpg while taking backroads to CHarlotte from Myrtle Beach. Somewhat slower speeds but the occasional downshift + flooring of the pedal to pass on rural highwys.Now even going 60-65 doesn't help that much. That's when I get the 30mpg or so. No where near the 33-34.Dave
Typhoon s/r intake, aftermarket muffler and I was getting between 26.5 to 29.5 mpg. All of a sudden, I have gone up to 33mpg after adding window tint. Maybe I am driving slower to avoid gettting pulled over8^}

I had the same problem after I put a intake on. So far I tried switching intakes (CIA to Ram Air) using the old air box, new spark plugs, pre-cat O2 Sensor, Cleaning mas. Nothing worked yet. Got 65k Miles
I was getting a ton of lean readings, the mechanic wanted $200 to fix it AFTER i paid him $200 to fix it right the first time. That is what brought me to this site As for the mileage update I cut my CAI in half & made it a short ram with cold air flow pipe(old snorkel from airbox). Seems to be working as Im getting a nice range on my current tank
I have an 06 base 5spd and I have never gotten less than 32 mph. I drive in town 90% of the time and I dont baby it at all. I havent done anything to the engine.I run Mobil1 that is the only change I have made. Make sure you've got the tires properly filled with air. As it gets colder they lose pressure. I was considering a SR but I might have to rethink it.
